Weekending

This weekend was one for chores, saboteurs, and out of doors. Chores included the usual grocery shopping, a bit of housework, some ironing, and a mountain of laundry. The saboteurs were my washing machine that chose the spin cycle to die and a malfunctioning change machine at the laundromat that made it darn near impossible to get the cursed laundry done. Thanks to The Golden Bowl next door, I was able to get quarters and delicious shrimp with lobster sauce.

Out of doors was the best place to be to rid myself of lingering frustration, so I drove to the scenic campus of Delaware Valley College (where Justin went to school), took a long walk, and enjoyed the last of the autumn color.

I felt like I also deserved some sitting, knitting, and committing (to several episodes of The Crown, which is absolutely stunning so far). The opening sequence, haunting music, the clothing, stories, actors, and reminders of how much I don't know about Queen Elizabeth II and her family have made The Crown a new favorite.

All in all, it wasn't a half bad weekend. Here's hoping your own weekend had more good than bad!

  1. Thanks for the recommendation on The Crown - I had added it to my list of things to watch, glad to know I will enjoy it. You had a productive weekend!

  2. Washing machine saboteurs are the absolute worst! I wish we were closer, my washer could be yours (sans quarters) while we sit and knit and watch The Crown! However, your walk looked spectacular!

  3. We have The Crown recorded, haven't seen them yet.

Sounds like the good outweighed the bad, so I'm glad for that. I just wish it wasn't already Monday. But I almost always wish it wasn't Monday ... ;-)

  5. Your walk is breathtaking! I hope that pathway melted away your frustration (and that your washer is fixed soon!). I thought I'd have time to watch The Crown as Smith was to work late Sunday and Monday. They changed his schedule and all I could think was DRAT! I'll fit it in today as I have the day off!

  7. At least you had a good excuse to indulge in Chinese food this weekend. You made the best of an onerous situation.

  8. I am planning to get through several more episodes of The Crown while trying to distract myself from my election anxiety! And that campus is beautiful! (So sorry about the washing machine.)

  9. I've heard great things about The Crown and can't wait to watch (once I'm through my Gilmore Girls review). Your campus walk looks lovely - now if only the washing machine would magically repair itself!
