I'm joining Kat and the Unravelers with some knitting progress. A finished pair of rainbow socks:
The blue and green striped socks are still in progress. One is done (even grafted) and the second sock is in progress, heading down the foot for the toe.
As soon as I finish this sock, I'll be casting on with the watermelon sock yarn that I mentioned several weeks ago. There is just something about knitting socks that I'm finding satisfying. Maybe it's not just knitting socks but I also really love knitting with self-striping yarn. One of my kids actually had a knitting request, so I couldn't order the yarn (more self-striping!) I wanted fast enough. I'll have to find some sort of pattern but I'm looking forward to much more knitting with colorful self-striping yarn for the foreseeable future.
I read six books during my break (and might possibly finish a couple more in the next couple of days) so I'll split my book "reports" into a couple of posts, probably this Friday and next Monday.
What are you making and reading this week?
There is something so satisfying about self-striping yarn! It is so easy to say I will just knit to the next stripe! :) I am looking forward to hearing about your books!!
ReplyDeleteThose rainbow socks are perfection! And I couldn't agree more about knitting socks with self-striping yarn. Years ago I used to knit all sorts of patterned and textured socks, but in recent years, I've been entirely satisfied by stockinette socks in self-striping yarn.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear about all those books!
You are really tempting me to knit some socks! These socks are so whimsical and looking at them just makes me smile. And I really love knitting with self-striping yarn. I think it is a dopamine thing. It is such a self-rewarding way to knit; almost instant gratification even though the item is not finished. Got any tips for sock knitting? I hate grafting. Keep it up, Bonny!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun colorful socks (both pairs). And yeah, self-striping yarn is so much fun. Wow! 6 books!! I can't wait for your reviews.
ReplyDeleteoh la la, look at those socks!! those are so cute! You will be done with the other pair next week I am sure.
ReplyDeleteThose socks are awesome! And I think sock knitting is perfect for summer - or anytime, really. The stripes somehow make it seem to go really quickly, too.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love those socks!
ReplyDeleteThanks; they make me pretty happy!
DeleteThere is definite magic in self-striping yarn!! Love those socks!
ReplyDeleteThe bright rainbow socks make me smile. They are so pretty and will be fun to wear this winter. You are making some good progress on these socks. I love the colors in the second pair too.
ReplyDeleteI love the self-striping socks! it's easy to see progress and the colors you chose are just plain fun! I've spent more time sewing and keeping up with church stuff this week ... knitting - and even reading - have been slow!
ReplyDeleteNow that I'm finished with my baby sweater . . . AND now that my sister has returned to her own home . . . maybe I'll wind some of my striping yarn and find some joy in knitting a pair of socks! You've inspired me! XO
