Unraveled Wednesday

Joining Kat and friends for Unraveled Wednesday, where you can unravel the stories you are reading and share your crafting inspiration – knitting, crochet, spinning, sewing, quilting, weaving, drawing, watercolors ... whatever!

My Peace Cowl has stalled, at least until I have a rainy day (coming up tomorrow through Sunday!) when I'm not working outdoors and can make time to wind the second skein. I'm fairly sure I'm going to run out of yarn so I want to start alternating skeins to avoid that abrupt changeover line.

I've added a few more points to my Hitchhiker and am glad the apple tree's blossoms match the yarn nicely.

While my knitting is much the same, I've started some new books. I'm listening to The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane. It's mildly interesting so far, and certainly well-researched, but since I'm only halfway through, I'll reserve my opinion for at least a few more chapters.

I'm also reading The Dark Flood Rises on my Kindle, and it has captivated me so far. I've never read anything by Margaret Drabble, but I can look forward to reading some of her many, many books if this one turns out to be as good as I'm hoping.

What are you reading and knitting this week?

  2. Both projects are so colorful. I know I am going to cave soon to the Hitchhiker world - lol. I've never red anything by Margaret Drabble either, so am looking forward to your "final" review. And apple blossoms! Ours is blossoming but we already noticed petals coming down in the slightest breeze. They don't last long, that's for sure.

  4. Seeing the hitchhiker in tree made me think of cherry blossoms but yes it goes well with the apple blossom too, perfect spring blossom colours. The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane sounds interesting, might have to see if I can find a copy locally.

    1. I wish we had a cherry tree! This apple tree is about five years old and hasn't yet produced fruit, but at least it has pretty pink blossoms.

  5. I can see why you'd pick the pink knitting over the deeper shade of a cowl! I'm knitting (a little) and reading and have the intent to telling the world about it soon!

  6. Oh... that pink is so lovely! Beautiful! And so springy! I am knitting things that I should not be, but that is just perfect right now! I am trying to finish a book so I can start a second! Tomorrow's rainy day might be perfect to get some knitting and reading done!

  8. I have been wanting to read The Tea Girl . . . and I'm watching myself creep ever-so-slowly up the queue line at my library. Hope it's worth the wait... ;-)

  10. I love it when my knitting coordinates with nature; your Hitchhiker reminds me of sherbet, but it's stunning with the apple blossoms. Look forward to your reviews of both books. I'm in a good reading place right now ... need to blog about it while it lasts :-)
