Unraveled Wednesday: 11/23/22

I'm happy to join Kat and fellow Unravelers for Unraveled Wednesday, and in keeping with my theme of Gratitude this week, I'm very grateful that Kat hosts this gathering place each and every week. It often feels like one of the highlights of my blogging week where I get to see what others are making and reading, and I am inspired by gnomes, socks, sweaters, and pressed flowers.

Today I've got a completed pair of socks to show you, along with another pair that I started.

Some plain vanilla socks knit with Fibernymph Dye Works Bounce in Home for Christmas. These socks were a joy to knit, in fact so much so that I started another pair almost immediately.

These are from some String Theory Colorworks leftovers in Pluto. I made Ryan a pair of fingerless gloves to match a flannel shirt and this was the first thing I grabbed when I went looking for more self-striping yarn in my stash. I don't know where this desire to knit socks has come from but I'm just going to keep knitting and not question it.

I finished Nobody's Fool, The Light We Carry, Welcome to Dragon Talk, and And Finally last week. They were three and four-star reads for me. I'm quite excited about the books I'm currently reading: A World on the Wing and a pre-publication copy of You Could Make This Place Beautiful. It's all I can do to stop reading and make crescent rolls, pies, stuffing, and raspberry jello salad, but my Kindle is on the kitchen table in case I have a few free minutes in between rolling crescent rolls and baking pies.

What are you making and reading this week?

  1. There are going to be some warm feet in your house this winter thanks to your sudden sock mojo! Even after as many pairs as I've knit, I never tire of stockinette socks in self-striping yarn. The Kisses are a perfect match, too!

I had to do a little negative knitting on my Recalibrate (because apparently I can't count to 10), but I'm still working on it and getting close to finishing the left front. And I'm reading Demon Copperhead, very slowly, and just started a new nonfiction book: The Woman They Could Not Silence.

  2. I'm reading in between my Thanksgiving prep this week, too. I finished The Colony on Monday and started Signal Fires yesterday.

  4. Those are such great, stripe-y socks, Bonny. I used to like to knit socks . . . back in the days when I spent many (many) hours in hockey rinks. Somewhere, though . . . around the time Brian graduated from high school (and hockey), I lost my sock mojo. I'll just enjoy watching your stripe-y magic come to life instead! XO

  5. Great socks Bonny (both!!). As Sarah said, there will be warm feet in your house this winter. LOL Crescent rolls - one of my favorites. I can still recall the scent of them baking in my Mom's kitchen. Delicious! Enjoy your feast!!

  6. Richard Russo is such a readable author. I need to search out Nobody's Fool. I have never played D&D -- I wonder if there is a group near me?

  9. As my grandmother used to say, "oh my stars and striped stockings." You are going to have some nice warm socks for winter and are set for the holidays too. I love it when a knitting wave comes along. I am thankful for my blog friends, including you. I so enjoy your sense of humor and love to read about your gardening, plants, baking, knitting, and anything else you post.
