Unraveled Wednesday

I'm joining Kat and the Merry Unravelers for Unraveled Wednesday, today with stripes. Well, one stripe at least. Maybe only a partial one, but we'll see.

I wondered if the red stripe yarn was too bright and not the slightly more cranberry red I was thinking of. I'm not sure if I'll do two-stripe rows like this one or keep going and do four-stripe rows. l'm not sure how many red rows I'll do, or how many plain Drachenblut teeth I'll do between stripes. But I'm going to keep knitting, see where I end up, and like Kym always says, not decide on these questions until I've got enough knitting real estate to judge.

Reading has slowed down a bit, and I only managed to finish one book, All Shall be Well. It's the second in the Duncan Kincaid and Gemma James series by Deborah Crombie, and makes for some nice, light reading in between "bigger" books. I've started three or four of those "bigger" books but they haven't felt satisfactory at all, so I've put them aside. It may be time to try some books that are on the just-announced Booker shortlist

What are you making and reading this week?

  1. Personally, I think the red is perfect, but you are the final judge.

I am hoping that today I can finally get back to my reading and crafting; work has been getting in the way, but I sent off a big project at the end of the day yesterday, and I'm hoping for a quiet day today. I'm still debating whether or not I want to try to read all the Booker short list selections. I've already read No One Is Talking About This and have Bewilderment on hold at the library for when it comes out, but I feel like filling up two bingo cards this summer has burned me out a bit on reading to a deadline (of sorts) and I just want to read what I feel like at any given time.

  2. It seems that most of my time has been used making lists of all the things I need to do. I need to get this stuff done so I no longer have to think about it since it is using too much mental real estate. I don't know how my list got so long! I just finished The Madness of Crowds, but I know you are not a LP fan, so no help there. I have, like you, started several books lately that I just could not get into. Here's hoping both of us find some reading that really engages us soon. HH is looking good. I think the red yarn is a perfect match according to my monitor.

  3. I love the red Bonny! I think it looks great. I'm reading "Conjure Women" as well as "Tab;e of Contents" by John McPhee with Fletch. Both are enjoyable. And I've finished my French Market bag (except for the felting!!).

  4. I like the red and, from what I can see at this point, I vote for bigger stripes. Good luck finding a new book that will engage you - I bet the Booker shortlist will be just the ticket!

  5. I LOVE that red and look forward to seeing it on a bigger piece of real estate :-) also looking forward to reading the Booker Short List - I read the Aspen Words and Women's Prize short lists this year and it was fun and rewarding (even when my favorite books didn't win!)

  6. I really like the red stripe, and - yeah - give it more real estate before you decide. XO

  7. I too like the red stripe. I hope you find the perfect book for this time. The good news about reading is there are so many choices.
