Add a Bow Tie

I'm kind of at a loss for words this morning. I don't have anything specific to say (my weekend was full of chores and travel from MD to NJ and back again) but I didn't want to not post. So I'm sharing this photo that makes me laugh and wondering how you put a figurative bow on your chicken hat and get on with your life in the best way you can? Let me know your thoughts in a comment and maybe you can make us all laugh (or at least smile) on this Monday morning.

I'll start things off. If I want to make a statement and get on with things, I wear my "f**kity f**k f**k mask" It makes me feel more powerful and I just love how it looks like an innocuous floral print but says something quite different. It never fails to elicit smiles and comments from people around me, and I haven't yet received a negative comment.

So how do you dress up your chicken hat and get on with your life? I'd love to know!

  1. I'm not sure what I do, actually. I guess I tell myself that I know what's right and what's in my heart and then I move on. Maybe I need to get a chicken hat? Ha!

  2. This seems like it's going to be a new mantra for getting on with life amid all the madness: Just put a bow tie on your chicken hat and get on with it! I continue to love your sweary mask; I'd really love to have one for myself that something like "It goes over your f-ing nose, too."

  3. First, your mask is the BEST mask I've seen. And, second. Well. That chicken hat is stupendous! I think my own "chicken hat" (sans bow tie) is my "that woman from Michigan" baseball cap. Whenever I wear it, it gets noticed that's for sure. It makes me feel powerful and kind of like . . . your mask. :-)

  4. OMG - that chicken hat is the best!! Too funny. And...when I ordered my "Attempted Murder" mug the other day I noticed the store also had a mug with your fabric and saying/swearing on it! I thought of you immediately. There is another one I love of RBG giving the finger. Ha! I'm not sure what I do to get on with sh*t other than figuratively pull up my big girl panties...but I think a chicken hat is more fun.

  5. I have been doing a ton of journalling pouring my thoughts and feelings and frustrations down on paper. I have been meditating twice a day but lately three times a day to give myself an attitude adjustment that I so desperately NEED.

  6. Where on earth did you find that picture?! Hilarious. I swear a lot when I am getting on with it, Bonny. I tell myself I should reform, but swearing gets me started and gets me through it. This southern lady is not very gentile - LOL.

  7. I am laughing! Thank you! Just the idea of that! (as for me, I have perfected the "art" ?? of the messy bun, because I have absolutely no clue what to do with my hair...but, I am contemplating a hair cut at the end of April after I have been fully vaccinated!!)

  8. That chicken hat is hilarious! I think your mask is just the thing to wear when you need to go out and face the world. I just ordered a singers mask, looks like a duck beak and plain black, I wish it came in a print like yours!

    1. I'm not sure I'd ever wear a chicken hat myself, but it has never failed to make me laugh, and that's a good thing. I do hope by ordering a singers' mask that means you will soon be able to get back to singing!

  9. Late last year I happened across a couple of teenage boys who had "F*** 2020 Club" professionally printed on the back of their T-shirts. Told them I'd like to join their club and we all had a laugh together. We all needed a few moments like that last year! (I'm in Australia so things are going fairly well here)

    1. I would also like to join their club! I felt pretty powerless last year and knit "F**K 2020" dishcloths for friends and loved ones; they were well-received! I wish people in the US would just wear masks and maybe we could do better. Good for you in Australia!

  12. I actually have a chicken hat... but it doesn't look anything like that! I could put TWO bows on it, though. ;)
