Fingers Crossed

 This is what I see as soon as I step out the front door in MD:

And this is my view across the street the other way:

I feel lucky to live in a pretty nice neighborhood! We'll ignore all the gigantic Trump flags that I've been quietly (and maybe just a little childishly) giving the finger to whenever I see them. May we all have an abundance of patience, remember to breathe, keep hope alive, and may Joe Biden and Kamala Harris win this election.

======

Just a reminder and a note: next Tuesday, November 10th is our Read With Us book discussion of The Women of Brewster Place. We're not yet sure about the format of the discussion, but will let you know as soon as we know. Kym found the Oprah miniseries adaptation on Amazon Prime in case you are interested in reviewing or watching. You can watch it for free with ads or rent it for $3.99. I watched the version with ads and didn't mind them at all. It is three hours long because it was originally a miniseries, but it didn't feel that long to me and it might give you something to watch besides election news.

  1. Fingers crossed (and toes and eyes). May patience be in abundant supply today.

  2. I may or may not have stepped on a you-know-who sign yesterday. Darn thing bounced back -- but I'd be willing to bet it's gone today (it seems like the ones in our neighborhood that aren't behind a fence or close to a house disappear quickly).

    Today I'll be doing my best to take calming breaths and think positive thoughts.

  3. The next few days will be pins and needles. Deep breathing and looking for gratitude in the tiny moments today.

  4. Hoping for a Big Blue Wave!! I would like to suggest watching Pete Souza's documentary, THE WAY I SEE IT. We rented it last night on Amazon (it's available elsewhere) and it's SO GOOD! I cried a lot, though. :)

  5. My next door neighbor has a Trump/Pence sign in their yard, but there are no other political signs in my entire neighborhood. Very weird, however, I like it better than having to see a lot of T/P signs. I have my day all mapped out so I will stay busy and work off some anxiety. I just keep playing 2016 in my head, and it's very disturbing. Time to meditate... Have a patient, lovely day, Bonny!

  6. I do the same thing to the Trump flags I see! Our town is pretty red but I'm glad I live in MA where as a state we cancel that out!

  7. I'm in! I had considered watching it when I finished the book but kind of forgot. I also live in a very red town...but like Carole said MA as a whole will fix that.

    1. Interesting is one way to put it! At least you have had voting by mail in OR for years and haven't had to figure it out and fight in court. The rest of the country could learn something from OR!

  9. I do live in a RED state, but blue is my favorite color. I'm with you this election day. I hope the results don't drag out too long. I just completed The Women of Brewster Place and while I didn't love the book, I will join in your discussion next week. In the meantime, "Build Back Better!!" :-)
