High Hopes

or maybe medium hopes, but I do have some kind of hope for these books. I was anxious to get back to NJ to pick up these books that I had placed on hold. I've been disappointed in the past few books I've started and want to read something, anything, that pulls me into the story, has an interesting plot, or teaches me something. With plenty of wind and rain, this looks like a good weekend for reading, so I don't even have to feel guilty about lying on the sofa and doing just that.

I was also excited to get back to NJ because there is some yarn I ordered for a Christmas knitting project in the mail that I had held. The post office was supposed to deliver it yesterday, but did not, so I do hope it's in my mailbox today. I don't know if the USPS understands how excited a knitter can get about a new project, but I'm sure if they did, neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night would stay these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds. The postal service and I have a love/hate relationship, so I even raked leaves from the front walk this morning so the mailman wouldn't slip. Fingers crossed!

Wishing you a good weekend!

  4. I have high hopes for the Eleanor Roosevelt book, and I hope to see a rating on it. Anticipation is agonizing, yet so very pleasant! I hope you get your yarn and have a wonderfully relaxing weekend of reading, drinking tea, and knitting with your new yarn.

  5. Hoping the mail came through for you! The Eleanor books looks like it could be fun! I've never read any of the Green Gables books...but seeing as my grandparents first came over (from Denmark and England) to Prince Edward Island, maybe I should!

  6. Sending good mail vibes your way! I'm expecting a skein too. NOT going to the Fiber Festival after all. A little sad but really...I have too much yarn. Have a wonderful and relaxing rainy weekend Bonny!

  7. I read Make Time and I really liked it! I have this thing for books on "time management" and this is one that I found pretty good, a little different than the usual...it's fresher. Do you listen to Gretchen Rubin? She had one of the co-author's on Episode 190: https://gretchenrubin.com/podcast-episode/190-jake-knapp-focus
Hope you got your package; not sure what's happening with USPS...but they are really *not* delivering mail, especially pkgs, BIG TIME! Enjoy your reading weekend ~ and hopefully, knitting!
    Cheers~

  8. Interesting books you have checked out from the library. I'll be interested to hear how you like them. I often check out three or four books in hopes that at least one is something I want to read. Did you listen to the Craftlit podcast series on Anne of Green Gables? I listened to the book completely differently as an adult than as a young girl. I hope the USPS comes through. Nothing like receiving an order of yarn in the mail.

  9. Oh, I hope your yarn arrived ... and you're enjoying at least one of those books (or maybe even all three!) I'm still reading The Mermaid and Mrs. Hancock and still enjoying it immensely. It's made a few trips downstairs (off my nightstand) which is always a good sign. I also finished - and loved - Lethal White. I was glad the book was as long as it was - more story to escape to. Have a wonderful weekend!!

  11. I hope these books live up to your expectations! There's nothing worse than getting excited about starting a new book only to be disappointed.

  12. I would ask Eleanor anything! I'm sure the answer would be right on point! Hope your mail arrived. I've had good luck with my yarn packages lately. Not sure what happened this year, but I'm Christmas knitting, too!
