Three on Thursday

Joining Kat and Carole for Three on Thursday.

Even though not a lot of leaves have changed here (really just one maple in our yard), leaves are falling because it's dry, so leaf-sucking season has begun for me.

1.  Before:

2.  After:

3.  And a (slightly disgusting but honest) leaf-sucking selfie:

It's a dirty job, but somebody has to do it!

Head on over here to read more Three on Thursday posts.

  1. LOVE the selfie!!! I am really missing the color-show with the leaves this year. Like you're experiencing, our leaves are just drying to crackly-crisps right on the trees -- and falling without a color change. Ugh. I'm beginning to see some trees finally changing, but it surely won't be "normal." (Like . . . is anything "normal" anymore???)

  2. (Meant to ask . . . do you compost the leaves you suck up???)

  3. Yes, that season has arrived here as well. So much fun, not! But, I too love the selfie!

  4. Our leaves are going from green to brown too, not much Autumn color here at all. Love that selfie!

  5. Oh boy! I always think how satisfying a shower is after work like that!! We rake rather than suck, either to the curb for the city suckers to come by or into the ravine.

  6. No color here either, just dry and brown. Is anyone having fall color this year? I have never used a leaf sucker, but it looks like it might be easier than raking? So far, mowing is taking care of my leaves, but I think that is about to change. I love honest selfies, and they are few and far between. This one looks like a focused, hard-working woman!

    1. I am going to take your last line as one of the nicest compliments I've received; thank you! I hate to rake and would rather vacuum the leaves. It's still quite a workout to wrestle the heavy vacuum around the yard, and I have to plan my day because it's such a filthy job, but I think it's faster to take care of leaves that way than raking all through October and November!

  7. Great selfie - love it. Not much color on our camping trip either. Suckie weather.

  8. Ha - that selfie made me smile! Leaves get blown, not sucked around here - must say, I think your way - dirty as it is - is much better.

  9. Our condo staff uses a sucker on the lawns, but still rakes leaves up from the gutters. I miss the days when leaves on the lawn called to be crunched under my soles or piles of leaves screamed to be jumped into.

  10. That does not suck at all! That machine is pretty spiffy! And your look is fantastic. I certainly wouldn't mess with you!

  11. whoa. Are you allergic to leaves and such? I'm glad my husband does all the outside stuff!! Our leaves are dropping like crazy even the oaks and they usually are the very last of the last.

  12. I love the selfie! Honesty always delights me. We are having a more-or-less normal leaf color season here in n.w. WI. Our hired helper is coming tomorrow and will probably mulch leaves. That pile of shredded brown matter is my favorite thing to mulch my garden with.
