Unraveled Wednesday

Joining Kat and friends for Unraveled Wednesday.

My knitting is not particularly exciting since last week. I've only got nine more teeth on my Hitchhiker because knitting time this week has been limited to a few minutes here and there. Better a little bit than none, and I have high hopes for the upcoming long holiday weekend.

Current reading is also not going to provide many thrills; it is the same three books I mentioned yesterday. I'm anxious to finish The Chalk Artist because I mainly want to just get it done and move on to something better. My high hopes for good reading this weekend are with Bambi's Children and Whispers Under Ground.

My high hopes for Book Bingo reading beyond the weekend got a boost when Mary suggested Cutting for Stone for the "More than 500 pages" square, and since we're all part of a blogging family, I'm taking her great review of A Full Life as a recommendation from a family member. The idea of knitting and reading on the porch with an ice-cold shandy is going to carry me through the next few days to Friday and a loonngg weekend.

What are you knitting and reading this week (and weekend)?

  1. Well, a slow week for me as well. Cutting for Stone looks very good - will look forward to your review. and, an ice cold shandy -- or anything -- will be welcome this weekend - supposed to be another scorcher!

  2. Knitting & reading on the patio with an ice cold cider is what I have planned as long as this nice weather lasts! I hope you like Cutting for Stone, I read it a few years ago & thought it was very good.

  3. Well, we're heading up north tomorrow afternoon for a few days and a start on the weekend. Some of us have to work on Monday, though. I am looking forward to enjoying cold beverages on the porch (and hopefully it will be nice enough to do so)!

  5. Your Hitchhiker is going to be lovely & you'll have so much fun wearing it. I'm a little jealous of your long weekend. I work at a theme park & 4th of July weekend is always insane there. But it's okay, November & the end of the park's season is another month closer.

  7. I wish I could visit you to sit on the porch, have a drink, read a little, knit a little, maybe see the deer! I hope you have a fabulous loooong weekend. I heartily recommend Cutting for Stone if you like an epic. It is one of my favorite books of all time. As a medical person, I predict you would enjoy it.

    1. That would be lovely (and the deer seem to be here almost every morning and evening)! I'm glad to hear your thoughts on Cutting for Stone. I haven't heard a bad thing nor read a bad review of it. I've already got it in my Audible library and am looking forward to starting it very soon!

    1. You'be probably figured it out, but it's really just beer mixed with lemonade. It might sound a little strange, but it's very refreshing on a hot day!

  10. I like the looks of that hitchhiker. I just picked out yarn from my stash for one - after i finish the other good sized shawl on the needles. Knitting even a little makes for a good day.

  12. Cutting for Stone is a GREAT book. I can't recall all the details any longer (because I've probably read over 200 books since I read it. . . ), but I do have very fond memories of the reading experience. :-)
