Unraveled Wednesday: 9/28/22

I'm happy to join Kat and fellow Unravelers for Unraveled Wednesday, with a finished Watercolor Rainbow Hitchhiker.

I do like all the rainbows and the four teeth of fluffy clouds in the sky that I finished with, so despite my previous threats that it might be gifted, I think I'll keep it for myself.

Here's a slightly goofy picture that I asked Ryan to take in his backyard. We took a million of them, and believe it or not, this was the best one out of the bunch. (That's John lurking/working in the garden.)

I haven't actually started it yet, but there may be some needle felting in my future. My SiL gave me this kit last weekend after she decided that needle felting wasn't for her. She stabbed herself one too many times, but I'm not on Eliquis anymore, so I can probably stand a needle poke or two.

After Queen Elizabeth died I was feeling kind of sad, so I rewatched the last three seasons of The Crown. I think I enjoy the show almost more than watching or reading about the real monarchy, so I checked out The Official Companion to The Crown, Volumes 1 and 2. I'm enjoying paging through these books, and I especially like how they compare reality with the series so I have a better idea of what was emphasized for drama.

I'm also listening to the audio version of The Marriage Plot. It's narrated by Genevieve Gaunt and she does an excellent job with all of the 16th-century Italian intrigue.

What are you making and reading this week?

  1. Oh, Bonny! I think that Hitchhiker is grand! Those blue skies at the end... perfection!

I listened to the NPR interview of Maggie O'Farrell yesterday and I am itching to get my hands on this book!

  2. I'm so glad you're going to keep the Blue Skies Hitchhiker all for yourself! It's such a fun and happy accessory. (I also love the photo!) I am really excited to see that needle felting "tapestry" come to life, Bonny. It looks . . . downright royal to me. XO

  3. I love how you finished off this Hitchhiker and I'm delighted that you're going to keep it! I hope it makes you smile every time you get it out.

I'm really looking forward to The Marriage Portrait, but I'm trying to finish Glory first (it's the last book I have to read from the Booker short list).

  4. Your rainbow Hitchhiker is gorgeous. I can see why you want to keep it. On a snowy, cold, grey day ---- that will be the perfect pick-me-up.

  5. I love your shawl and I'm glad you are keeping it!! That kit looks like fun, I find the fall season very inspiring to start all the projects :)

  6. That Hitchhiker is so beautiful, I think it's my favorite of all the ones you've made. (Do I say that every time? LOL) I just put The Crown book on hold, thank you for that. Have fun with the needle felting!

  7. Your Hitchhiker is beautiful and I hope you enjoy wearing it! I've never tried needle felting, I look forward to see how it goes.

    1. Thanks, Debbie! I wore it this morning and it makes me happy. I did just open the needle felting kit and now my kitchen smells like sheep from the fiber!

  8. Those rainbows work so well with the pattern, and I agree that the puffy clouds to end are perfect!

  9. What a bright beautiful hitchhiker. I think you should keep it for yourself. The photograph is great, especially with your husband gardening in the background. It's rare to find my husband in the garden. It's just not his thing. Although he will help with heavy work when I ask. I've never done needle felting so I look forward to seeing your project.
