Unraveled Wednesday

Joining Kat and friends for Unraveled Wednesday, with a bound-off Hitchhiker and several others in progress.

I bound off the last stitch on the Nervous Breakdown last night. There are still a few ends to carefully weave in, but I've heard that if I put it under my pillow tonight the Weaving-In Fairy might pay me a visit. I'm hoping that's true, but I may start on them myself this afternoon, just in case.

Then it will be time for blocking and moving on to the next few Hitchhikers in progress.

I started The Ten Thousand Doors of January and A Keeper in audio, and while they are both good books, I seem to have lost much of my ability to concentrate and hold on to the thread of the story in audiobooks this week. They've been temporarily replaced by reading poetry, and that has been a good thing.

What are you making and reading this week?

  1. I LOVE the way your bright stripes turned out, Bonny! I can't wait to see the whole thing . . . in all its glory. (And, yeah. If that Weaving-In Fairy showed up at your house overnight, would you share my contact information with her please???) XO

  3. I've grown to love weaving in ends in garter stitch. I've felt this way ever since learning about the "smiles" and "umbrellas" in the Very Pink Knits video: https://verypink.com/2012/10/10/weaving-in-ends-in-garter-stitch/

Sharing in case that's new to you!

  4. I love your hitch hiker knitting mania, it shows how productive we can be in captivity. The colors you are knitting with are super cheery as well!

  10. I did not know about the Weaving-In Fairy! I want to make her acquaintance and would gladly leave her a huge tip. I love your Hitchhiker, and I think the stripes add a lot. I am reading mysteries like a fiend, but no knitting. I seem to have lost my urge to knit lately. I hope it comes back. Reading poetry is almost always a peaceful and calming activity, full of introspection which is perfect for this surreal time.

  11. I love your hitchhikers. The bright stripes are perfect. I hope the "Weaving In Fairy" comes to call. I'd like her number please. I was trying to listen to The Secrets We Kept but couldn't keep the characters straight. I found I needed to see the print in order to focus on the story. Poetry always calms me and I love the idea of a story in such a short form.

  12. I hope the weaving in fairy visited last night. Those are lovely shawls!!

Poetry is a great sub for novels - I'm in awe of people who are able to read it. I have an incredibly hard time with it!!

  13. The Weaving-in Fairy is new to me, but I hope she visited you! I'm very excited to see the big reveal of the finished Hitchhiker.

I've always had a bit of a problem focusing on audiobooks. I've gotten better in recent years, but sometimes I need to read the actual words of a given book to be able to follow it.

  14. I saw where New Zealand's PM assured folks that the Easter Bunny and Tooth Fairy were essential workers. apparently she is not a knitter and didn't realize the Weaving-in Fairy should also be considered essential. I read Ten Thousand Doors before All This started. The writing is really beautiful ... maybe pick it up on Kindle instead of audio? in any event, I hope the mojo comes back. You've got way too much HH knitting to not be reading!
