Weekending

I hope your weekend was as nice as mine. I didn't do anything extraordinary, but it was a wonderful combination of some of the usual and a few things that were unusual for me.

I bought chocolate doughnuts at the grocery store and managed not to eat all of them. I never buy donuts, but sometimes you just have to give in.

I made almost 100 venison meatballs. We had enough for dinner and also froze some for later.

I drank some peanut butter whiskey. It sounds strange and awful, but I assure you, it is not.

There was an FO, but I'm saving that for Wednesday. I excavated another sock; this one is only three years old. I'm finding that socks make the perfect project to work on while John drives to MD and back to NJ.

I fixed the showerhead with a double point needle. The flow had dwindled to a trickle over a couple days, and when I removed the showerhead to investigate I noticed a broken plastic piece was blocking the water. I figured I couldn't break it any further, so a double point needle made the perfect tool to pry the broken thing out and remove it. It now works perfectly!

Most unusual of all, we went to a bar. It's kind of a dive bar, but my nephew and his wife were down from Albany; Justin had arranged to meet them there and he invited us. A long time ago Ryan told me I should try one new thing every month, and since I've let that go by the wayside I decided to begin again, starting Saturday night. The music was incredibly loud but it was a fun time!

I hope your week is off to a good start. It's supposed to reach almost 60 degrees here in MD so I'm going to enjoy it, hang out some laundry, and get out for a good long walk.

Be sure to check in with Carole tomorrow when she begins our discussion of Fever. I hope you'll consider participating!

  1. I'm glad you had such a good weekend, Bonny. That's a lot of meatballs! But they go fast, I know. I remember that sock. You must be pulling project bags out of the closet, but you are right, socks are great for mobile projects. Your pictures all show happy, smiling people, and isn't that a wonderful way to spend an evening? I think Ryan's advice is really good, especially for those of us who have gotten into a rut. I am going to see where I can put it into practice. I hope the joy continues this week!

  2. I think dive bars are the most fun kind of bars -- and especially when you're meeting up with people you love! It looks like everyone was having a great time, Bonny -- and I love to see your smiling face. XO Also . . . doughnuts! Such a treat! And hurray for DPN fixes! Enjoy the warm day.

  3. What a fun post! Great pictures of everyone smiling (and you look fabulous - did you cut your hair??). Like Kym, I think dive bars are just the best. Peanut butter whiskey...hmmm...I may need to give that a try. Great save with the DPN!!

  7. Peanut butter whiskey, eh? I'm not a whiskey drinker, but I do love peanut butter, so I'm certainly intrigued.

It looks like it was a fun and productive weekend, and now (darn you!) you have me craving chocolate donuts!

  8. hmmm, I used a knitting needle to unblock a sink drain last week, it worked perfectly :) Looks like a fun weekend and sometimes it's the simplest of bars where you have good memory making and a wonderful time.

  10. Enjoy your warm day (we were 61 yesterday) because I am looking at 15" of what comes after! Your weekend sounds fun and Ryan's advice is sound, plus who doesn't love a donut! (I can't quite imagine the whiskey, but I think Smith would love it!)

  12. Trying something new - what a great idea. How fun. These kids keep us young or in my case from being boring. And using a DPN to fix a shower head - brilliant. I am off to tell my husband about my multipurpose knitting tools!
