Unraveled Wednesday

Joining Kat and friends for Unraveled Wednesday, today with more of the same old, same old.

My current Hitchhiker is growing slowly (36 teeth and counting) and I very carefully clothespinned it to the ivy on my neighbor's fence in MD so I could see it spread out. This is the same ivy that grabbed and tore one of my John Deere Hitchikers at the cast-on stitches last fall, but I fixed that and prevailed over the ivy this time.

One of the reasons it's growing slowly is that I've been feeling a bit unraveled. It hit me all of a sudden on Sunday — headache, body aches, fever, the usual viral symptoms. Tea, Tylenol, soup, and naps have been helping, but I've found myself holding my knitting on my lap more than doing any productive knitting. It's comforting. :-)

The same has been true for reading this week. I've started a few books but they are on hold because my headache has made it difficult to read.

But enough whining and complaining from me. What are you making and reading this week?

  1. Oh Bonny, I'm sorry to hear you've been unwell. I hope the tea and soup and naps soon have you feeling more like yourself -- the knitting and books will wait!

  2. I hope you feel better soon. Since I babysit a petri dish I am getting hit with all the viruses that always turn into sinus infections. the doctor insisted it's just my bad luck but gosh it's annoying. I LOVE your hitchhiker :)

  3. Oh, Bonny, I am so sorry to hear that you have a virus. Take very good care of yourself just like you would one of your guys. It will pass, but it will pass faster if you take care. I love this hitchhiker! It may be my favorite. I think just holding it in your lap is enough until you feel like your old self, and yes, it is comforting to hold a hand knit.

  4. Oh no! I am sorry you have caught whatever bug has been making the rounds! It seems like you are taking good care of yourself! But, your Hitchhiker is gorgeous! I really love the yarn you are using! (and your ivy...I read something courtesy of Irelands Farmer's twitter feed - ivy is a natural antibiotic for cows!)

  5. Your hitchhiker is wonderful Bonny (and the ivy too - very pretty). But...so sorry to hear you have the "crud." Hoping your tea, naps and Tylenol do the trick quickly and you are back on your feet pronto. Do take care!

  7. your Hitchhiker is wonderful, loving the yellow color,( great winter color tone knitting with). I am sorry about the crud hitting you and please take care. The bug has hit here too, grand babies have the real deal, influenza for the oldest, the youngest heading to the DR. office this morning. Ugh...the only thing about winter I really dread....sickness.

  8. Oh, Bonny. My heart goes out to you. Having just gone through this myself, I know the value of holding your knitting in your lap while you stare out into space and try not to move your eyes. Sending you all the good juju for a speedy recovery. XO

  9. Oh rats. Those darn viruses are so annoying. If holding your knitting brings you comfort then I say cuddle up with knitting in your lap instead of your hands. The hitchhiker looks great - so bright and cheerful. And I am ever so glad you prevailed against the ivy this time. Take good care and feel better soon.

  13. I hope you have prevailed over the flu! Some of my friends have had bad cases despite the flu shot but other's have had very mild cases (that sound a bit like what you have here). Sending strong healthy vibes to you!!
