Unraveled Wednesday

Joining Kat and friends for Unraveled Wednesday, today with two more Rikke hats in progress, and on the brink of becoming finished objects.

The blue one just needs to be gathered at the top and the woodsy one is ready for the decreases once I free up the dpns. I've got two more hats in the queue, but I hesitate to label them "in progress" as this is what they look like now.

I hope they will actually look a bit more like hats later today.

It's snowing and dark here, so I want to show you my fancy photographic setup. That's the best arrangement I could come up with to take these bad photos!

I started The Night Circus audiobook, but tragically left my iPod in NJ when we drove to MD on Sunday. It's affected my whole week in a pretty negative way, and I can't wait to get back home and look for it. I was able to rise above my grief and start reading The Red Lotus on my kindle, but I'm still missing my iPod (a lot!)

What are you making and reading this week?

  1. First . . . can you get an app and download the book on your phone???? I used to use my iPod exclusively for audiobooks, but now I just load them (through Audible or Overdrive/Libby) right on my phone. I HATE not having my book when I want it!
Now . . . to the knitting! I love those Rikke hats you've got there. Perfect for gifting! (And I have one hat that is in the very same state as your next two. . . ) XO

  2. You'v chosen fabulous yarn for all of your hats. That woodsy one is just gorgeous. Laughing at your photography studio - very similar to mine! I like Kym's idea of an app for your phone for audible books. Hope you can do that.

  3. So are Rikke hats the new Hitchhikers? ;-) I really do need to knit one for myself soon, as yours look so cozy.

I hope Kym's suggestion works for you so you can get back to your book!

  4. What would I do without my iPod!?!? Yes, you can get the app and add the book to your phone (it should remember where you were) but it won't be the same. I swear I have an unhealthy attachment to mine. Your photo studio looks just like mine! Bets that your Rikke hats will be fini today and the new colors in progress by morning!

  5. oh boy, I can't imagine being without my audio - between podcasts and books, I am listening to something all the time (except when I'm typing ;-) ... at least you have something to look forward to when you're back in NJ? laughed at your photo setup. Mine looks quite similar. it's not snowing here today, but it is cloudy. ... and hopefully I'll have some good WIPs to share later today, too!

  7. Good looking hats, Bonny! It's a bummer to leave one of your most loved tech objects behind! How on earth did you get a copy of the Red Lotus for Kindle? Am I missing some loophole I don't know about? Please let me know how you like it. I am a big Bohjalian fan. Hope your weather improves soon. It has been cold and gray here for days, but today the sun came out. AHHH Maybe it is headed your way!

  10. That hat might be the perfect post-slipper palate cleanser! (And, I think it will go quickly!) Thank you for the reminder!

Also...I listen to audio books from the library on Overdrive - there are apps for iOS and Android phones. Likewise there are audible apps for both phone operating systems. (PS I really loved The Night Circus and I feel your pain of missing the book!)

  11. Oh Your week will get better I hope! I love hats but when you get to the decrease part, I don't like doing it.
Im finally watching Rhinebeck Sweater on you tube and its long but fun so far. I m watching a bit at a time.
I think i have to cast on socks. My mind is too goofy to do anything else. I have some good yarn...so wish me a casino

    1. My week isn't really so bad, and I'll be heading back to NJ tomorrow night and will be able to listen to my iPod once again. I'm not sure if autocorrect worked its magic or I just don't understand, but I wish you a casino nonetheless!

  12. Hooray! For the two hats, soon to be three and that you are soon to be reunited with your iPod and book! Looks like happiness all around! Knit on and listen (read) up!

  13. Gorgeous hats! I bet The Night Circus is a great listen, I loved reading it and it's probably a different experience as an audio.

  14. The hats are knitting right along. I wonder if the other two skeins look more like hats this evening. Great rich color choices. Hopefully our sunshine will wind its way east to you. Even though it is cold, sun makes a difference. I listen to audio books on my kindle. From the comments above, I surmise we all have preferences. Hope you are soon reunited with yours!

  15. You should buy another ipod for back up :) I bought a new Kindle and I'm in heaven with picking it up and reading it. I haven't read the Night Circus yet.
