Sometimes Monday ...

... is a relaxed day to knit and take it easy.

My to-do list has dwindled, and all I have to do is walk up to Main Street and get some truck magazines, lottery tickets, and cigars for Justin's stocking. (He smokes five/year when he's fishing in the summer.) "Wrap" is also on the list, but that isn't a big deal because of all the Christmas bags I've made through the years. It will take me about ten minutes this afternoon.

I decided against a tree, real or artificial, this year, and it's been quite freeing. I do miss displaying our special ornaments but for now, I'm happy with the owls in my Norfolk island pine.

So today is a quiet day, in which I hope to finish knitting my last Christmas hat, and maybe even return to a bit of selfish Hitchhiker knitting. I'll be back at the end of the week. I hope your holiday week, whatever you are celebrating, is filled with moments of peace, joy, and contentment.

  1. Lovely post, Bonny! I love your owls! And what a lovely way to spend today - a little walk to pick up a few odds and ends!

Merry Christmas to you and your family!

  3. Contentment! Best word. Your owls are fabulous. It is nice to be on the home stretch, isn't it? Looks like such a nice day for a walk, too. Enjoy Bonny. Merry Christmas!

  5. Well, I am not relaxing until after Christmas. I have a ton of cooking to do, but it's all good. I decided against a tree this year as well. I just didn't have the energy for it. However, everyone who shows up for dinner on Wednesday will have a feast, and that should be good enough. I hope you have a wonderful day, Bonny, relaxing, a brief walk for your health and to wrap things up, an afternoon of contentment. I hope you have a wonderful holiday, and I will see you after Christmas.

  6. ahhhh... that sounds delightful! it's been nasty weather here since Saturday, but Sara and I are tucked up and cozy inside, listening to music and catching up on our respective laptops! (also, it appears Safari is the weak link for commenting, so she suggested I try Chrome ... and voila!)

  8. IT is fun to do things very differently some years. We have 3 trees that create a small forest with while lights. No Ornaments! Its lovely. Only buy-in for one person in the family grab bag. Also much more relaxed

    1. Your trees sound beautiful! I may have to consider that arrangement someday. I've tried to get out family to choose names for a gift, but couldn't get everyone to agree.

  9. I hope your walk was nice. I meant to get out today and walk but with one thing and another I didn't get it done. Tomorrow. Yes, I didn't put up a tree either and it is freeing. I probably mentioned that earlier. I finished baking today and tomorrow will whip up some fresh cranberry sauce and a Christmas morning breakfast casserole that can be popped into the oven. Enjoy! I love the owls.

  11. I haven't had a tree in about 45 years but I often think about how much I loved the tree my mom had with our families special ornaments on it. So bright and cheery, so colorful and exciting. I could never recreate it (and wouldn't try), but I love the memories.

  12. Wishing you a VERY merry Christmas.

We haven't done a tree for a few years and I am enjoying the holidays SO much more. While I love how they look, neither one of us enjoyed putting it up or taking it down. We still have decorations and of course, lights outside. So it's still festive, just much less taxing on our nerves. LOL

  13. My aunt does not do a tree and she loves being free. Her house still looks quite festive because of the mantle decorating. Merry Christmas!!!

  14. yes! to no more paper wrapping, I am so intent and serious on less bought for Xmas wrapping, and in fact this year I only bought 2 rolls (for the Santa Claus believers) and all the rest were wrapped/enclosed in material or recycled/reused pretty paper bags.
