Sky Watcher

It was a week of opposites here, at least in terms of the sky.

We had sleet and freezing rain at the beginning. It was a bit treacherous but we were left with beautiful blue skies and sparkling ice on everything once it cleared.

The end of the week brought sudden and intense snow squalls that darkened the sky to a flat gray and dropped a couple inches of snow in a short time. The blowing snow made it difficult to even see my (crazy?) neighbor who was out with his leaf blower during the squalls. Forty mph winds made his efforts useless (but amusing to me!)

I hope your weekend has more blue sky, but less gray, ice, and snow!

  1. I always think it's nature's gift to us that after a big storm it almost always seems to clear up and give us blue skies and sun, almost as if nature wants us to admire its work fully. That first shot is a great example -- that ice makes everything so messy but it's also so beautiful!

  2. The ice on those berries is beautiful. I've been watching the sunrise every morning and thinking about hope.

  3. We had those same crazy snow squalls which made for an interesting blip in the week! They have been replaced with clear skies and some very cold weather, but sunshine! Have a great weekend!

  4. We have snow as well but I bet it will be melting by Christmas. I love the berry photo!

  5. The weather here has improved a lot over the last few days. Warmer and the skies are very blue by the afternoon. We are supposed to have a Christmas in the 60's! Whaaa? I love your photos, Bonny. I hope you have a lovely Friday with time for tea, reading, and/or knitting.

  6. That first shot is a beauty! The second...a harsh reality of the season we're living in! :-) Have a wonderful weekend my friend and hopefully some relaxing. I'll think of you around 5:30.

  7. Love: "40 mph winds and a leaf blower! " I'm laughing out loud...'cause I have a neighbor who does a similar thing too with her leaf blower! Great post and enjoy the weekend!
    Cheers~

  8. Neighbors can be so entertaining (I am often bemused by mine). The blue sky with the red ice covered apples makes a fabulous photo. It's 45-50 here today and tomorrow, but Christmas evening we could have a little dusting, then the cold settles in again.

  10. We got the ice between Monday night and Tuesday morning, but thankfully, the streets were just wet. Some squally snow on Wednesday, but nothing accumulated.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
