Unraveled Wednesday

Joining Kat and friends for Unraveled Wednesday, today with another completed Rikke hat and a new one on the needles.

The blue one is for Justin for Christmas, and the next red one may be for Ryan for Christmas, or it might go into the gift pile. I'm using Madeline Tosh worsted (instead of the dk the pattern calls for) from stash, so I'll see who it might fit with my modifications. Who knows, it might be for me!

I finished Solar, and for me, it was a two-star book narrated by the five-star Roger Allam, which bumped it up to three stars. Another Ian McEwan book, Saturday, is ready for me to pick up at the library, but to be honest, I've got several other books that I'd rather read first. Carole's self-care post piqued my curiosity enough that I've started Reiki by Pamela Miles. I figured that it's not fair to make a judgment until I learn some more first!

What are you making and reading this week?

  1. I’m plugging away on two gift sweaters but took a break to fix my Stopover. Need to cast on the sleeves for one of this sweaters tonight.

  4. The blue is just so vibrant! Love it. I need to plug away on my brother's socks and Colin's blanket. I have the latest Louise Penny to read, but haven't managed to start it yet!

  5. I'm going round and round on a hat for Dale. I just finished a book yesterday so I'm debating what to read next. I think it might be The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern.

  6. Love the hat! I usually knit a hat after Christmas (for no apparent reason) so I'm going to put this in my queue. Knitting...a pair of fingerless gloves for Dan's boss and the never ending poncho and reading The Dove Keepers...20 hours so I'll be at it for a while!

  7. I love both! I am making hats for the adult kids this Christmas in worsted weight, however, I want to knit for me :)

  8. I love those hats! I have to check my stash, but I think I have more worsted than DK. We shall see, after Thanksgiving. I am going to be very busy until that is over. I just finished One for the Blackbird, One for the Crow. I liked it, but it was only a 3 star book for me. Our library is going to do away with overdue fines, and I think it will be interesting if I ever get those books I put on hold. I hope people will surprise me.

  11. What a great progress on Christmas hats! That blue is so bright and cheerful - I love the color. I see "A Circle of Quiet" on your reading shelf. I read that when I was still teaching and don't recall details except that I found it peaceful at a time when my life seemed crammed with work and teenagers.

  12. Oh your hats are awesome. I'm not reading right now , except for blogs. I am busy putting the forest floor to bed for the winter. I am knitting a fun cowl. But I may have to go to the knit shop tomorrow and switch out some yarn!

  13. So is Rikke the new Hitchhiker? I've been knitting sweaters and socks for so long, I'm not sure I even remember how to do a hat ;-)

I remember reading Saturday years ago ... and feeling very unsettled. not sure I'd recommend.
