Unraveled Wednesday

Joining Kat and friends for Unraveled Wednesday.

Today's knitting is a slightly larger Match & Move. The yarns looked practically perfect together in the skein, but I wasn't sure if I liked the second color (Wollmeise Pure in Spice Schwammerl) once I started knitting with it. It is growing on me a bit, and with just six more rows before I go back to the first color (Leading Men Fiber Arts in Copper Cloud), I'm going to reserve judgement for now. The rows are really fun to knit and go relatively quickly; I just need more knitting time. (Don't we all?!)

I'm re-listening to Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, and it pleases me that my knitting and reading match color-wise. I'm finding Eleanor and her circumstances even more poignant this time around. Slowing down my reading, really paying attention, and savoring this book has been a very good thing for me.

What are you making and reading this week?

  1. The way the colors are working out is Completely Fine. I think you're on to something great! I'm reading Miss Burma and slowly (so slowly) knitting a sock and a sweater (both of which will take a year to complete).

  2. So glad you are enjoying Match & Move, and I really like your color choices - it will be a stunning piece Bonny. I'm looking forward to reading Eleanor...when my library books are finished that is.

  3. Reading Future Home of the Living God, making nothing crafty, just trying to keep up with household chores this week. I love your Match and Move, Bonny. I think you will find it very lovely and versatile.

  5. Great color combination and thanks for the Eleanor Oliphant reminder. I've been meaning to put that on my To Read list but somehow, never have. It's on the list now. :)

  6. My advice whenever working with contrasting colors . . . give yourself plenty of "real estate" before you make a judgement. You really need to be able to see enough of the colors and how they work together before you decide whether they work or not. (In your case, I think you've already got a winner!)

I loved Eleanor. Such a good read!

  7. I do like those colors together and I also agree with Kym's advice about going forward more before you decide - but I think it's good. I've got Eleanor on my TBR list.

  9. I'm quite "happy" with the color combo - they all work well together in the photo. Looking forward to seeing more...

    Cheers~

  10. I loved Eleanor dearly and I think your idea of slowing down the second time and savoring every bit of her is a good one! I want to do that with the Gentleman in Moscow!

And, I "third" Kym's advice... (and I am with her...so far, so very good!)

  11. Now I am going to have to add that book to my reading list. I love rereading well written and favorite books a second time. Sometimes I just read so fast to get to the end of the story that I miss the details. The second read is such a good opportunity to savor. The colors look good together in the photo. That copper color is so pretty.

  12. And I will "fourth" Kym's advice! She advised the same last year when I was ready to give up (very early) on my Colorwash Scarf -- turns out, the big picture was WAY better than just a few preliminary rows.

  13. Juliann suggested we add a category to Bingo "book cover coordinates with a WIP" ... I think it will be a lot of fun! (oh, and NOT a hitchhiker - yay!)
