If Wishes Were Dollars ...

I would be out purchasing a few things with my winnings.

Alas, I am not, but the prospect of a giant jackpot did make me compose my imaginary shopping list. Here's what I'd buy:

  • a new laptop for me
  • a new mattress (I would share with John)
  • a ranch for Justin so he could run it on his own in the ethical, humane way he would like
  • an endowed professorship in math for Ryan
That's about it. Justin mentioned that he would also like new rims and tires for his truck, but if I'm buying him a ranch, then he needs to pay for his own truck parts. This list would have been ideal if I had won the $430 million. The first two items total about $2000 (unless I went wild and got a Sleep Number mattress), and the remaining two would have set me back about $2.5 million each. I could have treated the kids equitably and given them things they both want, but they would still have to be working, productive, and responsible people. Plus, I would still have had about $424,998,000 left. I might even have bought a skein or two of really nice yarn. :-)

I think I had at least $8.00 worth of fun dreaming (and it looks like I'll have another chance on Saturday)!

  1. It's always fun to dream about a big win like that but I'd be afraid it might change my life too much. Honestly, I'd be thrilled with a smaller win in the $250,000 range. I could pay off my house and buy new cars. It would change my life but not in a gigantic way.

  3. Dreams are fun, even if they can't turn into reality.

But ... you never, ever know ... :-)

  6. If I won a lottery, I'd look in to getting custom-made shoes, and custom-made bras. Ah, wouldn't that be nice!

  7. Another vote for Waking Ned Devine - hilarious! I have always fantasized about winning a big lottery and setting up a foundation to do good works. Doesn't that sound like fun? Maybe I am weird. Of course, this would be after I had purchased custom shoes (great idea, I have terrible feet), buying a luxury car, and maybe hiring a PT personal chef. I love to cook, but sometimes I am not in the mood. I hope you win, Bonny!

    1. You are kinder and more giving than I am! If I would ever win a large sum of money, I would definitely donate to some good causes, but that much money could also quickly cause lots of unwelcome change and turmoil in a person's life. For now, I think I'll be happy watching Ned Devine!
