Unraveled Wednesday: July 6, 2022

I'm joining Kat and fellow Unravelers for Unraveled Wednesday for some potato chip knitting with the new yarn I received last week. It's just a small stack of unexciting washcloths for my nephew and his wife who are expecting their second son in October. That gives me plenty of time to finish a bunch of cloths in the teal and knit a Baby Surprise Jacket in that lovely deep purple. I may through caution to the wind and use both the purple and teal together in a cloth or two. Wild times!

I'm still reading The Transit of Venus. I'm finding it slow going but will continue because I trust Kym and Debbie's recommendations. It doesn't help that I got distracted by The Latecomer and The Rose Code. The Latecomer was a truly interesting five stars for me and The Rose Code is a diversionary novel while I wait for The Diamond Eye from the library.
What are you making and reading this week?

  1. Those cloths look like the perfect thing to knit in hot weather! I enjoyed The Rose Code and just read the author's sort-of related short story that was an Amazon First Reads choice this month.

  2. The cloths look great - love the colors - and they must feel better than the scrubby one I just finished! I'm finally reading "The Lincoln Highway" by Towles and so far it is ok...but just ok which is a disappointment.

  3. Your knitting looks just right for this very hot weather. I admit I am having a bit of trouble getting interested in knitting anything when it's this hot. I have a swatch staring me in the face, but I can't seem to get started on the project. I am reading a very light novel from Kindle Unlimited, and all my efforts to read anything substantial have failed recently. I am going to try Kate Quinn. I think I may just have to stick with lighter reads for a while. I have started at least 5 books lately that I just could not get into reading. I also think I need to begin to avoid the news for a while. Have a great Wednesday, Bonny!

  5. lovely cloths, I love doing those because they are palate cleansers after a big project and I'm not sure what to do next and everyone loves them as gifts.

  7. Those are nice bright wash/dish cloths. I find them so satisfying - they always turn out, they are useful, and most important - easy to finish. I need some reading inspiration so I'm perusing your bookshelf. I'm glad it is still there.

  8. Love the washcloths! The colors are such a treat. :-) And . . . The Transit of Venus won't be to everyone's liking. It is a struggle in the beginning. If Debbie (and another reading friend I trust) hadn't encouraged me, I probably would have laid it aside. Once things started to click, though, I couldn't put it down. I hope that happens for you, too. Although if it doesn't? It just doesn't, y'know? ;-)
