A Full Year

I started using the 10% Happier app to meditate a while ago, and once I realized that it was doing me some good, I stuck with it. There are days that I don't feel like meditating, but it became a habit, and my day just doesn't feel complete if I haven't meditated.

There are plenty of meditation apps available (just search the Google Play or Apple Apps store) if you want to give it a try. Some are free, some offer free trial periods, and I encourage you to try some to see if it's for you.

I've meditated every day for a full year and I can honestly say that I'm happier and healthier for having done so (at least 10%)! I've gained self-awareness, learned skills to help manage stress, increased my patience, learned how to look at stressful situations from a new perspective, lowered my blood pressure, and increased the quality of my sleep. Here's to another year!

  1. I'm impressed! Good for you. I need to try this again...I've tried in the past and given up (distracted or bored or something), but I could sure handle having my BP lowered and gaining some patience. I'm vowing to give it a try again, so thanks for posting Bonny!

  2. BRAVO! I've been practicing daily meditation for several years now, sometimes I use an app and sometimes I just do it on my own. It really does help me . . . as in I don't know where I'd be without it! I'm so glad you've found that daily meditation helps you feel better and (10%) happier! XO

  3. Your success is inspiring, Bonny. I do meditate, but I don't always have the discipline to do it every day. I will recommit to with your inspiration. I need to sleep much better, as well as lower my stress levels, and this might be the ticket! Thanks for this post.

  5. I could really use that "quality of sleep" benefit. Glad things are working out for you with meditating.

  6. I like that app, too, but my track record is *nowhere* as good as yours. Life goals!

  7. Congratulations! Anything you've been able to do for a full year is worthy of applause, but the icing on the cake is that you've found it to have some very real and very positive effects.

  9. Congratulations, Bonny! I've never used a meditation app, but I am going to look into this one because meditation has been difficult for me lately. 10% happier is a very good thing!

    1. I tried a couple of other apps that I didn't like as much, but I was lucky enough to have a friend gift me 10% Happier for 6 months and I was hooked. I hope you find something that works for you. (Dan Harris also wrote a book entitled 10% Happier if you want to take a look at it.)

  10. That's great. The pandemic got me to do daily yoga (even if it's just a 5 minutes meditation type) with Yoga with Adriene plus I use the Calm app and do a daily meditation on there. I have found it very calming for me and I hope to keep it up indefinitely.

  11. Bravo to you, Bonny! What an awesome accomplishment! I have meditated for years and I honestly don't know what I would do without it!

  12. Look at that! I tried for 30 days and when done I was happier but not about continuing. I like the idea of it rather than the execution. I know meditation would be good for me but I just have no follow through.

  15. Wow and woohoo YOU! I'm so glad you found your way to meditation and all those wonderful benefits of simply (?! is it simple?) spending a few minutes in a still, silent space.
