Get to the Root

In the garden of your life, I hope that thistles are few,

and that you can get the whole root out easily.

(Now does anyone have any tricks for getting thistle stickers out of my skin? I can't see them, but I sure can feel them!)

  1. Oh gee! I love the flowers that thistles have, but what a pain (literally and figuratively).

  2. Ouch! I wish I knew a remedy, but I don't.

  3. I learned about those stickers the hard way. UGH! Have you tried duct tape. Put it over the area where you feel them and pull. It should grab them. (Not sure if other tapes are strong enough, but regular tape *might* work too.

  4. Oh, I can relate! I was weeding on Sunday and I kept feeling like I had little thorns in my hand but I couldn't see anything at all!

  5. Ouch! I know that uncomfortable feeling well -- and now I leave those for the landscapers to pull!

  6. My battle with thistles is non-stop. I feel your pain. (and I don't have a quick fix for this lingering stickers...but they are such a pita!)

  7. Oh, ugh. Thistles! I have so many to dig out . . . And I have no fix for the stickers. They just kind of need to fester their way out, unfortunately. (I have a pair of "rose gloves" that I try to remember to put on when I'm dealing with the really bad thistles. They don't offer much in the way of dexterity, but they do provide a good coat of armor against thorns and stickers.)

  8. (Oh. Just remembered that a gardening friend uses a pieces of packing tape to try to pull the stickers out of her skin. She applies the tape to her hand/finger/wherever, presses it down firmly, and then peels it off. She swears it works. I've not tried it myself.)
