Old Slippers, New Slippers

These are my old slippers. We've always called them "Cabeluggs" because they came from Cabela's and weren't quite Uggs. They are very comfortable, but over time the inner fleece lining has gotten worn and matted, to the point that they are really too big. Justin has been nagging me for a long time to get new ones, telling me that I'm going to trip down the steps someday and how much he hates the slapping, clomping sound they make on the stairs. I knew he was right, but sometimes comfort is hard to give up.

But he finally took matters into his own hands and got me new slippers for Christmas. They are very warm and comfortable, and more importantly, they fit better. No more clomping on the steps, and the soles are not slippery at all. They have cute acorn imprints on the bottom, and they also make me laugh. There is a tag inside that says "faux fur" and each time I put them on I'm reminded of a friend in elementary school that thought it was pronounced "fox". I wasn't sure I wanted to give up my old slippers, but now I'm as quiet as a Ninja in my new slippers. (And what 64-year-old woman doesn't like to feel like a Ninja and comfortable at the same time?!)

  1. And they are a cheery red!!!

YMMV, but I put my L. L. Bean slippers in the wash. Tightens them right back up. Now no Bean employee would every recommend that, but it works for me. You could have a back up pair that fits again.

  2. Good job, Justin! My old slippers are also matted down and even worn away in some spots, and my plan is to knit some insoles, but I also dropped a heavy hint (that apparently was missed) prior to Chanukah. Oh well! Enjoy being a ninja!

  3. You forgot STYLIN', Bonny. Because now you're a comfortable, STYLIN' 64-year-old Ninja in your great new slippers! What a perfect gift. (And I remember going into near hysteria in 6th grade when one of the girls in our class kept talking about her cousin's new car . . . a Grand Prix. And you know how she pronounced "prix!") XO

  5. LOL - I'm laughing because I recently bought new slippers because the ones I've been wearing, like yours, were older, matted worn down and a little large. BUT...I haven't gotten around to wearing the new ones yet. Some day. I like your new red Ninja slippers Bonny - very nice!!

  11. I love finding slipper that fit, and when I do, I hardly ever take them off. Moccasins with or without a sheepskin lining are my favorite pairs, but these look really nice, Bonny. BTW, I am getting notified of your blog postings a couple of days after you post lately. Can't figure it out. Got any ideas? It may be on my end. Anywho, your slippers were a thoughtful present, and I hope you remember that every time you put them on.
