Hark! A Harbinger!

I should tell you that these are not my photos (my SiL took them) but since she lives in northern PA (only four hours away from NJ), I'm choosing to see them as a harbinger of spring.

I haven't seen any robins here (yet), but I am holding out hope that it will stop snowing someday, warm up a little, and we'll all have loads of robins heralding spring.

And speaking of spring, next Tuesday is March 2, the day we will discussing the latest Read With Us book, Leave the World Behind.
  • Carole, Kym, and I will each post a different discussion question on our blogs on Tuesday, March 2. Please feel free to post your thoughts about the book by commenting.
  • Later that same evening, we'll be hosting a Zoom meet-up at 7:00 pm eastern standard time to discuss the book live and in person.  If you would like to join us with a beverage, your knitting, and insights and questions about the book, all you have to do is let us know! Just RSVP by leaving a comment on any of our blogs, or you can send any of us an email. We'll be sending out the Zoom information prior to the meeting, and we'll also be sending out some background information about the book and the author that we hope will deepen our understanding of the book prior to the discussion.
I do hope you'll join us in whatever ways you are able to participate.  We had a lot of fun with our last Read With Us Zoom meeting and I think this book needs to be discussed!

  1. I have been seeing lots of robins here, even during the extreme cold temps lately. Now that it has warmed up again, they are everywhere. So yes, spring is coming, Bonny, and it can't come soon enough for me. Sending you thoughts of warm breezes, balmy weather, green shoots and buds coming to life, and a lot of hope for things to come! (Now if only they would fix all those water mains so I could stop boiling water, my happiness would be complete!)

  2. Beautiful pictures from your SIL - thanks for sharing! Especially nice after yesterday's snowfall (again). We've been seeing robins all winter...and I read that they actually do not migrate, but they head to different areas for feeding during the winter. But the sight of a bunch of robins will be very welcome - especially if they are pulling worms out of the earth with no snow cover in sight!!

  4. I didn't realize that robins were harbingers of spring -- I've been seeing them here for months! But I did hear some distinctly spring-like birdsong this morning, and it's above freezing already this morning, so perhaps spring is coming soon!

Looking forward to discussing the book with all of you next week!

  5. I don't know what kind of bird flitted away as I walked out the back door this morning, but I heard chirping!! That makes me so happy.

  6. Hooray for robins! We have a few that stick around all winter but I know when I see large flocks of them that spring is in the air!

  8. Yes, Spring is on the way. I never did read the book because there were over 100 people on the hold list at the library. Maybe I can hold of the next book you read and join with you on that one. Have a great Wednesday!

  9. I saw a robin yesterday right there in my driveway! (Your sister's photos are just wonderful.) It finally warmed up yesterday, and our snow (which had - finally - really piled up during February) is melting fast now. Hope that warm-up is headed your way. . .
