Unraveled Wednesday

Joining Kat and friends for Unraveled Wednesday, with a finish and a start. On Saturday I finished the baby blanket, washed it. and dried it on the line.

My search for a better photo location was easy as my blossom-laden autumn clematis is just behind my clothesline. It was buzzing with bees but I draped the blanket over the blossoms and quickly snapped a picture. The bees graciously allowed the photo and went back to their pollen-gathering.

The post office was already closed so I thought maybe I could knit a couple pairs of baby socks quickly and include them in the package. In an email to my SiL I said I should be able to knit a sock in a day, and maybe even a pair. An emergency (everyone is currently okay) and everyday chores intruded and as usual, my imaginary knitting is much faster than my knitting in real life.

Things have calmed down a little bit, and since I left the blanket in NJ, I'm going to see what I can get done before I mail the package on Saturday. Hopefully, it will be at least a pair!

I haven't done much reading, and am still listening to The Boy in the Field and The Patron Saint of Pregnant Girls. I've also got our Read With Us book, The Women of Brewster Place, on my Kindle and am anxious to start. It seems that many of you are also excited about this book, and we appreciate that!

What are you making and reading this week?

  1. The blanket turned out beautifully Bonny - congratulations on the finish! Nice that the bees cooperated for your photo finish - lol. Isn't imaginary knitting always faster? Certainly true for me. Glad everyone is ok and things are calming down!

  3. What a lovely blanket!! My imaginary knitting is also much faster than the real thing. Haha. I'm almost finished with the bulk of the knitting on my baby blanket, but there will still be much "finishing" to do!

  4. I am sorry to hear that you, too, had to deal with an emergency but am relieved that everyone is okay. And what a beautiful blanket that is! I hope your life remains calm and uneventful enough to whip up some socks to accompany it.

  5. So sorry you've had an emergency to deal with . . . thank goodness for knitting to get you through. XO The blanket is just lovely, Bonny! What a treasure for a new baby. (And isn't it amazing how much faster we can knit in our minds??? So much faster.)

  6. My imaginary knitting is perfect, original, and lightning fast - LOL! That really is funny since my knitting has been almost nonexistent lately. I do have a couple of things planned, however. We'll see. I just finished Mexican Gothic, and although it is not my usual type of read, I really enjoyed it. I rated it 3 stars on Goodreads, but I am going to go back and adjust it to 4 stars. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since I finished it.

  8. As I share my lunch hour with you today I'm enjoying a delicious vinaigrette that I MADE. Very unusual behavior. :-) (The making not the enjoying.) Reading Such A Fun Age. I have many thoughts about it but will hold them until I finish. It could be today! Your blanket is just perfect!

  11. I started Hamnet yesterday (and I am happy to say it is a most excellent picking-up-stitches companion! And an even better applied I-Cord buddy! All stitches picked up, and almost half the i-cord done! Woo!)

I love your sock knitting optimism and I am hoping that all is well with all your people! XO

  14. The blanket is wonderful. That is one lucky baby. Hanging it on the line to dry by one side is a great idea. I am glad the bees cooperated with your photo shoot. Good luck with those baby socks. They look like a fun little project.
