Ryan got the complete set!
Since I'm done with dishcloths, I'm once again knitting on the Sunset Hitchhiker. I caved and ordered beads that I think will go with it perfectly. If they match as well as I hope, I'll sew them on the ends. I wasn't going to order the beads until I finished knitting, but I rationalized it and told myself it was better to order them now since they are coming from Germany and may not arrive until the end of July. Surely I can complete the Hitchhiker by then (and if I don't there aren't really any negative consequences anyway)!
I finished The Hen Who Dreamed She Could Fly and The Summer Book this week. The Hen Who Dreamed She Could Fly was marketed as a Korean Charlotte's Web, and while I didn't quite get that comparison, it was an interesting little book. The Summer Book was quietly marvelous and is now one of my all-time favorites. I'm so grateful to Jane for recommending it, and I'm very much looking forward to reading Tove Jannson's A Winter Book. I love your sunset Hitchhiker. So bright and cheerful. It will be beautiful with beads; however, I think sewing beads would drive me absolutely bonkers! LOL I loved The Summer Book (and did not know there is a Winter book!). I just downloaded a different book by her "Fair Play." Looking forward to reading that.

Im listening to The Girl who drank the moon. Im dismayed because my fancy audible kindle says I have ten hours to go. The girl was supposed to drink the starlight and the nursemaid gave her moonlight. In the end I bet this saves the world. I'll let you know. I just finished Cowgirls of Oklahoma. A bit boring. But it gives women their due in rodeo history for sure.
I think this is definitely my favorite of your Hitchhikers, and I'm looking forward to seeing the beads when they come in.
ReplyDeleteI've just (finally) finished Clue 3 of the TTL Mystery Shawl, and of course I'm continuing to work on my many other WIPs in a regular rotation. I'm hoping to finish reading Such a Fun Age today/tonight. It's been a so-so read, but it goes quickly. Looks like the next Gamache is coming to me from the library soon!
Love that you're back to the HH! also love all the kitchens that are gonna sing songs about 2020 well into 2021 and 2022 thanks to your prolific washcloth knitting. good work. and Amen.
ReplyDeleteThat yarn for the Hitchhiker is gorgeous! I love those dishcloths. Just the thing we need at the moment! I loved The Summer Book too, beautifully written. I only picked it up as I have a love (obsession!) with Moomins but I am so glad I did. If you like biographies, there is a lovely one called Tove Jansson: Life, Art, Words by Boel Westin.

ReplyDeleteI am about to start the I-cord bind off on my BSJ. And I am reading a Jeffrey Deaver/Lincoln Rhyme book on my Kindle app. Frankly, I like the I-cord better than the book.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you enjoyed The Summer Book. I loved it but then I like dreamy sort of books where the place is almost a character. The hitchhiker is so pretty and beads (if they match) will make it even more beautiful.
