Signs of the Times

Some signs I've seen on my walks and during my travels:

This is a local fairly upscale restaurant. (As in $15.95 for half a head of romaine, grilled. Very good, but also quite pricy overall.)
I wonder if their curbside pickup menu is within my budget?

Signs seen in Delaware. (They clearly don't want or need our NJ germs.)

A friend of Ryan's that lives in NYC sent him this one. She went home.

Signs seen along the driveway to the local hospital.

Our borough Dept. of Public Works guys are wonderful and hard-working, but maybe not the best grammarians. Although, I did look up "all though" and found this: "Originally, although was two words—all though—where the all was used to emphasize  though." They do get lots of extra points for also printing the signs in Spanish.

This one is my favorite, despite being slightly faded from rain. It says "Hey you! Look at you taking a walk. I just want to say that's a great thing & you're a beautiful person." I saw this at the end of my three-mile walk and it put a spring in my step and a smile on my face. I've ordered some chalk of my own so I can create some cheerful messages on my sidewalk.

Have you seen any good signs lately?

  1. This post has a soundtrack running in my head! (Signs!) Perhaps this needs to be reworked for Stay Home Signs :)

    Happy Monday, Bonny!

  2. I think my favorite is the NYC sign -- I love that little bit of humor even in these dark times. And the chalked message made me cheer up a bit. I haven't seen any new signs, though the house that had signs and "free good news" flyers up toward the beginning of this still has a sign up on their front steps that they seem to change regularly (they have it inside the plastic cover of a three-ring binder). It makes me smile when I pass it.

  5. This is a very upbeat post for the times, Bonny. I love that NYC sign, and the chalk sign is definitely a sign made to make you smile. $15 for grilled romaine??? I have never had grilled lettuce, but it doesn't even sound good. I hope you have a good week with continuing signs of encouragement.

  6. I saw one this weekend in a neighbor’s yard with Thanks in big letters surround by emojis for all the essential workers - very colorful.

  7. I've seen lots of signs -- but none so wonderful as the chalked sign on your sidewalk! (That NYC transit sign is fabulous, too.) Our high school has created and placed individualized (with names) signs for each graduating senior this year. It's fun to walk the neighborhood and see all the celebratory signs for these graduates!

  8. my favorite is the very last one! We have only done pizza as pick up every two to three weeks. I'm not convinced a burger fry meal would taste good after a 20 minute ride home..

  9. You'll have fun writing messages in chalk! I put a few around my neighborhood with rainbows, flowers, and stars. They were very well received. I didn't know anyone would OUT me as the "artist", but it was fun to hear how much they were enjoyed by the community.

  10. The chalk messages will be fun! I haven't really seen any signs but there are many, many painted rocks out in the woods these days bringing little messages of joy. I'm impressed with how far out they've been as there aren't generally too many people out where we go. That said - some folks are going out there because they are leaving their disgusting trash behind!

  11. :-) I LOVE that last sign! I haven't left the neighborhood since April 22, so my sign sightings are limited to the sidewalk chalk variety. Lately, we haven't even seen those ... thank you for sharing your smiles!

  13. I haven't seen any good signs but I have seen lots of chalk drawings and hopscotch grids trying to entice me to jump. I've been tempted but I really don't want to roll an ankle or break a bone in my foot. Your signs are great. I do have some chalk in the garage though. Hmm
