It Was a Good Weekend

I have many things to be grateful for on this Monday morning, and a lot of them happened over the weekend.

Since the weaving-in fairy never showed up, I finally wove the ends in on my Nervous Breakdown Hitchhiker. This produced a lot of colorful clippings that I put out for the birds.

I bought some generic graham crackers and was happy ecstatic to find that they were ~1.5x as thick as name brand ones. I like to dunk graham crackers in my tea, and these are just perfect for dunking without absorbing too much tea and falling apart in my mug.

I noticed flower buds on my little kitchen sink orchid.

I enjoyed knitting while watching My Dog Skip. (It was a great movie, and just what I needed to see.)

I had enough newly sprouted mint for the first batch of mint tea this spring.

I received two lovely, unique, and hand-crafted bookmarks from Justin for Mother's Day.

Several of you that have listened to Apeirogon have told me that you also read the book. I've ordered a copy so I can enjoy my favorite bookmarks in my favorite book.

I enjoyed a wonderful weekend despite coronavirus, and I hope you did, too!

  1. I also love dunking graham crackers into my coffee and tea! I'm a sucker for graham crackers :p

I loved this post - thanks for sharing all of this on your blog today! I'm on the waitlist for Apeirogon thanks to all of the recommendations from fellow bloggers. How is the new Paulette Jiles?

    1. I was quite happy to find that the graham crackers were so thick - it's the little things! I haven't even started the new Paulette Jiles, but it was the only "real book" I had on my tbr pile.

  2. The worst thing when dunking graham crackers is when they completely fall apart, so I can understand your excitement! My Dog Skip is an excellent choice for right now -- a (mostly) happy plot and an adorable dog to boot! Love your new bookmarks. They certainly look more durable than the slips of paper I usually use!

  3. Those bookmarks are super Bonny! What a perfect gift for you. Love them. Thick graham crackers is a brilliant idea (plus easier to spread peanut butter on them without them crumbling...). I like Paulette Jiles' writing, so will be looking forward to your review of this newer one. glad you had such a nice weekend!

  5. Good for you for getting all those ends woven in - that's a task and a half! And I didn't know Paulette Jiles had a new book - thank you for that!

  6. Those bookmarks are wonderful. And how do you keep an orchid? I have one given to me by a very special friend who passed away in February and I really want to keep it. Will it ever bloom again? Do I prune it?

  12. I put out little bits of yarn too! They have all disappeared and my guess is that they blew away but maybe not!

    1. My bits had blown off the picnic table, but I just rescued them and put them in the tree that has a birdhouse where I'm pretty sure the sparrows are building a nest. They may not use our bits, but at least we've tried to make their nests a little more comfortable and colorful!

  14. It appears that you have cultivated an optimistic frame of mind, Bonny. Hold tight! I am very happy you had such a good weekend, filled with small things that were noticed because obviously you were present. I hope your week continues in the way.

  15. So much good stuff Bonny. It makes me smile for you (and for me)! I don't dunk my graham crackers, but I have one EVERY morning with my coffee ... usually while the milk heats (so I guess not "with" but "before"). I like to think my stomach needs a little soft/sweet before I fill it with coffee :-) Those bookmarks are beautiful. I hope you'll share your thoughts on the paper version of Aperigon. I'm still a ways out from reading it and wondering if I should read with my ears or my eyes.

  16. The bookmarks are very clever and the perfect style that makes finding your place easier. I love the look of your Hitchhiker and look forward to seeing you putting it in action. How much do I miss graham crackers (and smores)!

  17. What nice bookmarks. They are beautiful. My son and his wife sent a pretty Mother's Day bouquet and my daughter sent some essential oils with a diffuser. They both called so it was a good weekend. Not the one we planned in Connecticut but considering the times, it was good. The hitchhikers look great. I'm glad the graham crackers lived up to your standards. It is the little things, isn't it?
