Three on Thursday

Joining Carole and friends for Three on Thursday, today with three random bits.

I was happy to get a clean bill of health (so far, four months post-PE) from the hematologist in Elkton yesterday. I just have to keep taking my anticoagulant, go back for another doctor visit at the end of October, get a CT scan so they can check to make sure that the clots in my lungs are gone and there are no new ones, and then I can go on a maintenance dosage of the anticoagulant, and hopefully be done. So there are still several more months and tests to get through, and the doctor is considering if I can fly to CO in early October to see Ryan. I made my case by saying that I would be fully anticoagulated and would get up and walk around the aisle, but we'll see. There's always the train!

Since nobody at home even noticed (I'm looking at you, John and Justin), I'm sharing a picture of my new glasses. I got Transitions lenses put into my old frames, and then because I wanted a spare pair, I chose these new frames with Transitions lenses also. It's not a great photo, but I wanted someone to notice, so I'm sharing with you.

This is something new and different from Central Tavern, honey barbecue macaroni and cheese, and it was absolutely delicious. I enjoyed it with my usual vodka and tonic with lots of lime, and I was inordinately pleased that Beckie, the owner and bartender, asked if I wanted "my usual". In my mind, that now makes me a regular!

Head on over to Carole's for more Three on Thursday thoughts.

  1. Congrats on your clean bill of health! I will continue to send good thoughts your way that things continue the way you have been and can get on that plane this fall. Also really love the new frames!

  2. I am cheering your health update! That is excellent news for sure!

And, I love your new glasses! But, I think the best news of all is becoming a regular!

  3. YAY for the health report - awesome news Bonny! Sending good vibes for flight approval. Your new glasses look so nice. How do you like the transition lenses? I didn't like them when I had them years ago (they never seemed to get light enough indoors or dark enough outdoors), but I think the technology has changed.

The honey BBQ mac & cheese looks phenomenal! I may need to hunt down a recipe for that (I've been dreaming of cooler weather and making comfort food). Congrats on being a Regular now!!

  4. Hooray for good health! Though I laughed when I saw your related photo because I have one of those that I use when I travel. Because I am the Pill Queen ...

    Love the new glasses!

  5. These are all three really GREAT things! I'm so glad (and relieved) about your health news, I love your new glasses (and shame on those men for not noticing!) and being a regular at your local tavern is fab!

  6. Oh I am so very happy to hear you're in excellent health! The new glasses are fab and don't feel too bad about the menfolk...kinda typical! But the best news is Beckie! Congratulations! :-)

  7. Great news about your health! I like your new glasses, sometimes people just don't notice. My choir director recently complimented me on my "new" glasses, but I've had them for nearly two years! Hope you have a wonderful day!

    1. Thanks, Debbie! It's probably not fair for me to expect my son and husband to notice, especially because they are not known for seeing details (like new glasses and messy kitchens). I do like how your "new" glasses got noticed!

  10. Your new glasses look great! I LOVE my transitions more than I thought I would. I had people complimenting me on my new glasses months after I first got them. Sometimes it takes awhile, I guess. Great news on your health and I hope you can fly to see Ryan in October! It's so disconcerting to have little control over what our bodies decide to do next. I'm still struggling with car accident (delayed) reactions. Who knew more stuff could happen 3 months later! I've always wanted to be a "regular" at a neighborhood bar! (We have no good neighborhood bar.):(

  11. Such good news, Bonny! I hope you are feeling more confident about things these days as a result. And I really like your glasses. I have noticed few people. usually notices when I change glasses either. It's a guy thing, I think. I have never been a regular anywhere except at the local burger restaurant take out, and it does make me feel special to be recognized. It always leads to a nice conversation and a feel good moment. I hope you have lots of these this month. Happy August!

  12. Yay Bonny!! That's great news!

Your new glasses look great! I'm glad you like the transitions, too... I hated them and had my glasses re-done.

Cheers!! I was just down at my local place on Tuesday... where I was asked something similar, but they meant "Nachos?" (They're SO GOOD!)

  13. What good health news! Hooray. I like those new glasses. My husband, dear as he is, does not notice things like new glasses or haircuts. However he is great with the big picture. And honey barbecue mac and cheese. That sounds pretty darn good to me. What is it about mac and cheese. I love a good from scratch mac and cheese.
