Unraveled Wednesday

Joining Kat and friends for Unraveled Wednesday, and I apologize for this photo that looks like it's either a terrorist or bank robber. It's neither; I was just trying to show that this Sockhead Cowl only needs the ribbing at the top and it will finally be done. I have to finish it during this upcoming week as I'm clearly running out of ways to take photos.

I saw that several friends had started The Heart's Invisible Furies, and I was lucky enough to find the audio book available via Overdrive. So far, I'm finding it hard to put down. It's just the book I was in the mood for - honest, truthful, poignant but not too sad, and a darn good story. There will be more books by John Boyne in my future reading.

What are you making and reading this week?

  1. At least it's a bank robber with good taste in yarn! I'll be checking out The Heart's Invisible Furies based on your recommendation. I'm (still) knitting Stopover but I'm at the yoke so it's the home stretch. And I'm reading The Proposal which is light and fun and perfect for me right now.

  2. Seems to me that with a cowl like that, you'd be more likely to rob a yarn store than a bank!

I'm still reading Becoming but am getting closer to finishing -- only a little more than 100 pages to go! I'm waiting for my next hold from the library.

  3. Love, love, love that blue! On my screen it looks very plush and velvety...just what I'd expect a knitting robber to wear on the job! Off to add a new title to my "must read" list

    1. I also love the color (and had to make a second trip back to The Loopy Ewe during my last visit to CO because I couldn't stop thinking about it)!

  5. Will have to check out the book. I just picked up a couple of books at the library, so maybe one of them will make the cut. I am in a bad knitting and reading place, I just can't seem to settle. Come on spring! I have the winter doldrums accentuated by the switch to DST, and I am crabby.

  6. I am listening to that book as well! I am entirely enthralled - and the narration is perfect! I am laughing and my favorite line might be when Julian was asked if he was not familiar with the ten commandments and he responds, "I've seen the movie." Priceless, just priceless - as is most of the book!

And, I laughed right out loud at your photo! The color of that yarn is amazing!

  7. I love this photo Bonny! It's great!! And, of course, the cowl is awesome - what a shade of blue! gorgeous.

I'm still knitting on the same old, same old - Hitchhiker and Shell Cottage socks. Reading is still The Library Book. I seem to be slow with everything...but I'm enjoying it all and that's the important part.

  8. Thank you for admitting it was you inside that Sockhead cowl because I was afraid when the photo popped up. I wondered if someone was holding you hostage! I've decided to reread (listen to) all of Toni Morrison's novels. They're among my all time favorites.

  9. LOL, I'm laughing because my first reaction to the photo was that it was a gorgeous blue laundry bag. (I'm not fully awake yet.) After reading your post, I went back to look at the photo again and Wow! It's exactly what the well dressed terrorists are wearing these days. :) Beautiful shade of blue and it's going to keep you so warm!

  10. That is a great shade of blue! I'm still knitting Stopover, almost ready to start the yoke and I started another Close to You. I am re-reading two books I read many years ago and am enjoying them in a very different way this time around.

    1. Thanks, Debbie! Knitting two lovely patterns and rereading Madeline L'Engle, C.S. Lewis, and Middlemarch seem like really wonderful ways to spend the last days (hopefully) of winter.

  11. Your cowl is looking great - I'm super excited to see it finished next week ... with your head poking out the top! My library only had Hearts on kindle, with just a short wait. It sounds like just the book I need right now :-)
