Unraveled Wednesday: 6/29/22

I'm joining Kat and fellow Unravelers for Unraveled Wednesday with new yarn! I haven't bought any yarn for a long time but this arrived just when I was getting very tired of the current Hitchhiker.

What's in the bag?

Some lovely colors for baby washcloths and a Baby Surprise Jacket!

I am in a purple mood, so that's what I've cast on with. I'm going to do some solid ones and might even try a Ballband dishcloth with both the purple and the teal, depending on how much yarn I've got left when I think I'm done. It's a wild time here at Chez Highly Reasonable!

I'm continuing my careful reading of The Transit of Venus but I haven't had much time this past week, especially time when I felt I could concentrate and give the book the attention it needs and deserves. I also got distracted by The Latecomer. It's a great story so far, both interesting and compelling. Baby washcloth knitting and a good audiobook are perfect together and just what I need!

What are you making and reading this week?

  1. You've got some fun knitting in store! love the colors you chose. Also, I'm seeing Transit of Venus pop up all over - (my) Katie has a copy, too!

  2. I like your colors! I knit my daughter an adorable sweater when she was about 2 using that same color of purple Swish, so I know that it makes a great sweater for a little one.

  3. What great colors! I'm knitting dishcloths too. I'm curious as to how "Dishie" feels compared with Sugar and Cream. I just knit one in KnitPicks CotLin and love it. My reading has slowed a bit....

  4. Those are some fun colors, Bonny! So deep and rich... I like them very much for babies (I am not a fan of baby pastels even on babies!)

I just picked up Transit of Venus from the library. I might be able to get a start on it later today!

  6. What GREAT colors, Bonny! And I'm really eager to hear what you think of the Dishie. Although I have quite a bit of Peaches and Cream already on hand, I'd love to find a "nicer" yarn for my next batch of dishcloths. :-) And . . . Transit of Venus does take some concentration and commitment there at the beginning. (I nearly let it go, but I'm happy I didn't.) I'm really looking forward to seeing your baby/dishcloth knitting unfold. XO

  9. I enjoyed knitting with Dishie and have had many pleasant hours with Swish. I love these deep colors. The BSJ will be beautiful and practical.

  10. I love the colors you chose for the baby sweater and washcloths...they look so rich! Transit of Venus is slow at the beginning, I almost gave up, but was very glad I stuck with it because it is one of the most amazing books I've ever read.

    1. Thanks, Debbie! I've read your excellent advice about the beginning of Transit of Venus and Kym has conveyed the same thing, so I'm going slowly and giving the book the attention it needs and deserves.

  11. I don't know how I missed this post yesterday, but I was very furious reading about SCOTUS decisions, so between fuming, I did laundry all day. Yarn musing would have been much more fun! I think most shades of purple, greens, and blues make a lovely combination. Please report on how you like working with those yarns. I have read that some love them, and some say they pill. I can't wait to see your BSJ!
