More Poetry

While searching for poetry, I came across this fun Poem Generator. You just choose the type of poem you want to "write", enter a few nouns, verbs, and adjectives, Mad Lib style, press "Write Me a Poem", and voilĂ ! Here are a couple examples of a generated quick poem and a haiku.

The Frilled and Fallen Hyacinth

Whose hyacinth is that? I think I know.
Its owner is quite happy though.
Full of joy like a vivid rainbow,
I watch her laugh. I cry hello.
She gives her hyacinth a shake,
And laughs until her belly aches.
The only other sound's the break,
Of distant waves and birds awake.
The hyacinth is frilled, fallen, and deep,
But she has promises to keep,
After cake and lots of sleep.
Sweet dreams come to her cheap.
She rises from her gentle bed,
With thoughts of kittens in her head.
She eats her jam with lots of bread,
Ready for the day ahead.

Hyacinth - A Haiku

Late windblown leaping
A fallen hyacinth sings
Betrayed by the sun

They don't quite measure up to Mary Oliver or Jane Hirshfield, but they are entertaining. Generate a few poems yourself and have a great weekend!

  1. I think Robert Frost would be amused!

  2. So. Much. Fun. (And I think a bit of a rabbit hole. . . ) :-)

  3. Oh my goodness! Well, the internet truly does have everything! (And, rabbit hole is right! lol)

    Have a great weekend Bonny!

  4. That's pretty fun! And the hyacinths are beautiful.

  5. I immediately thought this would a rabbit hole as well! A fun rabbit hole since there could be endless permutations. I hope you have a wonderful Friday, Bonny, and an even better weekend. Are those hyacinths from this year? They smell so good!

  6. Well, this sounds like a lot of fun, and, as others have said, a rabbit hole! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

    1. I spent way too much time on that site, "writing" poems (so of course I had to share it)! Wishing you a wonderful weekend as well, Debbie!

  7. The haiku made me laugh out loud! Well done.

  8. This is great! Thanks Bonny - wishing you a nice weekend and hoping you're starting to feel like yourself again!

  9. What fun, Bonny! I think some of the poems I've read by "real" poets have been written by that site! Have a restful weekend!
