I'm joining Kat and the Unravelers today, just plugging away knitting happily on the current Hitchhiker.
I finished A Year of Marvellous Ways, based on Jane's recommendation, saying that she enjoyed reading novels that feature older remarkable women. (Thank you, Jane.) This is something that I also enjoy, and Marvellous Ways is one strong, kind, generous woman. I needed to read a book that reminded me there is still goodness, kindness and love in the world and cruelty can be healed through patience, compassion and love. This story fit the bill perfectly and was four stars for me.
What are you making and reading this week?
I also like books featuring strong, wise women, especially older ones. Long, Bright River was my first Liz Moore book, and I remember really liking it. I hope you are not totally bummed out by it. Your HH is looking fabulous, Bonny. You have made a lot of progress! You are not a wimp, just wise. It's 19 here with a wind chill of 13; so much for southern weather.
ReplyDeleteI love how this Hitchhiker is knitting up, and I don't blame you at all for resorting to inside photos -- it's just too cold outside! You're definitely going to need a happy book after Long Bright River and The Secret History!
ReplyDeleteYour Hitchhiker is coming right along! I really like the high contrast of the yarns! Comfort knitting is the best! And, like you, I am looking for comfort reading as well.
ReplyDeletegorgeous gorgeous knitting!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a fabulous Hitchhiker Bonny! Let me know how "Followed by the Lark" is - my library has it, but I have yet to request it (I'm in queue for too many books right now). I'm wrapping up The Secret History and will be happy to move on to something else!
ReplyDeleteI just love that classic combo of dark blue and white, Bonny! I made a big order for the library yesterday for Overdrive holds and now my Libby holds are overflowing!
ReplyDeleteI really liked Marvellous Ways, too. I was thinking of picking up Still Life for a re-read. I found it so joy-filled the first time around, that I think I'd like it again. I read an ARC copy of Followed by the Lark. I thought it was interesting . . . but one (I think) you need to be in (ahem) the right mood for. Eager to hear what you think! XO (And that Hitchiker is lovely -- and perfect comfort knitting, too.)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, those BLUES!!!!
ReplyDeleteJust look at that Hitchhiker. It's beautiful. I'm glad you enjoyed Marvellous. She is one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteI really like that Hitchhiker. I've made one and was not really a big fan but something about the way you've placed your colors really transforms it into a wow!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
