Sometimes Monday ...
... is a day for seeing clearly and in a new way, at least I hope that will be the case after the new windows are installed. We're having most of the windows in the MD house replaced, so I have high hopes for being able to actually open them (which the majority of the old ones don't do). Something has been mentioned about them tipping inwards for easy cleaning, but let's just say I won't be in a big hurry to test that feature.
For what it cost to replace just nine windows, I think they should be self-cleaning!

Oh boy! That's a big undertaking for sure. I bet you are so happy with the new ones, and hopefully they will stay clean for a LONG time!
ReplyDeleteCleaning windows is still a chore even when they tip in - ask me how I know! LOL But still, congrats, I bet this will make a HUGE difference in your quality of light and life.
ReplyDeleteI don't do windows, but I will say that having new ones in an old house makes such a difference, both in the ability to open them easily in warm weather and in keeping the house warmer in the cold weather.
ReplyDeleteWe still have mostly old wooden storms & screens. We don't switch them all every season. I had a quote done MANY years ago and just about died (20+ windows, old/odd sizes, including three very large beveled and/or stained glass), can't imagine I'd react any differently today!
ReplyDeleteI have had those windows in a house in the past, and I really enjoyed them. They were very insulating, gave a great view, and were much easier to clean. And I know they cost a pretty penny, so I hope you do enjoy them. Happy Monday, Bonny!
ReplyDeleteI would like to second that self-cleaning option!
ReplyDeleteBut, new working windows is a very good thing!
I agree. the cost of new windows is astronomical ! We did replace many at our old home in Illinois. I think it was def a resale plus.
ReplyDeleteIn addition to actually being able to open the windows now, I do hope they have a positive effect on the resale value in a year or two!
DeleteOh, awesome! You're going to love it! We replaced our windows a few years ago -- and WOW! What a wonderful difference it made on our view of the world. XO
ReplyDeleteAnything that makes windows easier to clean is a good thing. I hope your new view will be clear and clean for a longtime before you need to find out!
ReplyDeletewindows that open are a delight! When we moved into this house I was amazed at how they open and tilt for easy cleaning!!
ReplyDeleteAmen to the self-cleaning feature. We are replacing four windows this fall. I am not looking forward to paying for them but there is some rot around the ones on the west side of the house. It has to be done before winter.
ReplyDeleteYou will LOVE those removable/tipping-in windows! We replaced all the windows in our 1937 house with them, and I would never have anything else.
