A Little Weirdness from the Weekend

I happened to see several things that struck me as slightly odd (but entertaining!) over the weekend, and wondered what you might
think of them.

This first one is a sign on the inside of the restroom near the family waiting room at the hospital. The sign is not very evident until after you've finished, but once I read it, I wondered why the nursing staff needed to be alerted, why only female patients needed to check with a nurse, why before, and why the sign wasn't posted on the outside of the door since this checking in was supposed to happen before use. (I may have a tendency to overthink things, especially if they don't make any sense.) When I returned to the waiting room, I asked the nurse at the desk about the sign, and she looked at me like I was crazy. She finally said she had no idea what I was talking about, and when I showed her the sign, she just shrugged her shoulders and said, "No idea. That's weird." I agree.

This one is more entertaining than weird, but I was surprised to see the Back to the Future car at a local car show on Saturday. It was missing the crucial Mr. Fusion generator, and Doc was nowhere to be seen, but the DeLorean was still a pretty cool car.

This last bit of weirdness was the best. Someone is building a new house around the corner from us, and I've enjoyed checking their progress when my walking route takes me past the construction. I had to do a double take on Sunday and then zoom in for a close up.

Yes, that's an elk in the upstairs window. I don't know why someone would need to air out their taxidermy, but I was happy to see something so funny. When I got home and told John about it, for some reason he didn't believe I saw an elk looking out of the upstairs window until I showed him the photos. We went back to take another look, but the elk had disappeared. I was glad I had seen it; a little
bit of weirdness is a good thing once in a while!

  1. The elk is THE BEST kind of random weirdness! How fun that you just stumbled onto that delightful scene -- just at the right moment. (It will keep me chuckling all day.) But that bathroom sign? VERY weird. (And my own overthinking brain would have followed the same thought-path.) XO

  2. OMG, I love the Elk shot. That is great Bonny! Too, too funny. And I agree the bathroom sign is just plan weird. I've seen a number of DeLorean cars recently (well, by a number I mean a couple...they aren't common around here, but I was surprised to see a couple).

  3. Oh I love the elk! I hope it means those people will be fun neighbors!

That bathroom sign is too weird to even consider ...

  4. And aren't you glad you took a picture of that elk? Because otherwise, well, I'm sure we all would have BELIEVED you saw an elk. Or thought you did, anyway. Hem.

  5. Okay, I confess... I laughed so hard at the elk "silent screaming" out the window! And, that bathroom sign has me googling. Thanks for helping me spend just a few more minutes doing nothing on this Monday morning! Hahahaha!

  6. Oh man, I hope Dale doesn't see this. He has a stuffed elk in the garage that someone gave him and I'm afraid if he sees this he will stick it out the window at random times just to mess with the neighbors! That bathroom sign is very odd and the car is cool - I remember seeing one once years ago when they first came out.

  9. I haven't seen a DeLorean in years! The sign is weird, especially since the nurse didn't know anything about it, but the car and then elk were not to be missed! One of the workmen (or the owner) must have been having a good time messing with people. You were one of the lucky few.

  10. I'm wondering if they've been enjoying you walking by and seeing their progress... and decided to give you a smile.... either way - I love it! That bathroom sign? weird man.... and even stranger is the nurse's reaction. Uh, maybe find out why the sign is there! since she works there....

  11. Sounds like you have walked into a Monty Python skit, Bonny. All of it is weird, but the elk is hilarious. I tend to believe that someone just used it for a window prop, but maybe someone has a quirky sense of humor. Anyway, it is hilarious, and it would have made me day as well. Have a quirky, funny week!

    1. Monty Python describes this perfectly! We have boring wooden blocks for window props, so I do admire someone's creativity. Wishing you some humor and quirkiness this week also!

  13. Oh my goodness... grab the handiest thing to prop open the window?? That's hilarious!! Kind of a cute house, too. I spot a DeLorean around here from time to time, and it's ALWAYS cool!

  14. Ok ? what in the world about the female using the bathroom sign? Perhaps it had a urinal in it? Was this a urology floor? I can't imagine. We have a house in the country side that has a dinosaur coming out of the upstairs window.....kind of funny to see something so different right?

    1. It was just a regular bathroom across from the surgical suite and the surgery waiting room. It didn't seem like a patient bathroom so maybe the sign was just there to make me spend too much time wondering about it? I'd love to see the dinosaur!
