Eight pairs for Ryan, plus two WIPs |
Two green pairs for my sister, the two others are mine |
When it started to get chilly and my hands got cold, I went to my knits pile in the armoire, expecting my fingerless mitts to be there. They weren't, so in the Kon-Mari way, I took everything out. I got rid of a few sweaters, etc. that were no longer bringing joy, refolded and put everything back, but still no mitts. I spent the next few days searching - in the family winter accessories box, coat pockets, my car, but no luck. I was at Walmart, saw these for $2.00, and bought them with the intention of knitting a new pair for myself soon.
I met a friend for lunch, and before we even had a chance to say hello, she grabbed my hands and cried, "Heresy and sacrilege!" She thought it was awful to be wearing less-than-ideal purchased mitts instead of something hand knit, and I agree. So as soon as I finish a Hitchhiker, cast on a Match and Move, complete two other pairs of mitts and a hat for Ryan, and a pair of mitts and a cowl for Justin, there will be more fingerless mitts for me, declared the slowest knitter in the world. Maybe my lost pairs will show up if I actually cast on a new pair, she said hopefully. It's worth a try!
I have to say - Ryan is one lucky guy - what a wardrobe of mitts! (and I have a feeling your missing pair is bound to show up before you can finish a new pair ... just the way it works, ya know?!)
ReplyDeleteSometimes I think the only way I ever find missing things is to buy a replacement ...
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a lot of mitts, and most of it unselfish knitting. I hope your mitts turn up before you have the chance to cast on. Or you could just insert mitts for you into that knitting queue of yours. No, Bonny, you are not the slowest knitter in the world. At best you are #2 since I am in the #1 slot. I have made peace with it. As Margene would say, it's the process. Except when you need something quick, then ACKK!
ReplyDeleteI have cast on for a new pair of mitts so the old ones will show up any time now! While I was digging through my stash, I found some yarn for a cowl for Justin for Christmas, so knitting my mitts may compete with that. I'm not shopping on Friday, so I have high hopes for plenty of knitting time. I hope I can speed the process along a little bit!
DeleteOh, man, where could your mitts be? And I agree with Mary, Ryan is one lucky guy (with nice warm hands)!
ReplyDeleteRyan IS lucky! That's a lot of mitts for one guy. I agree - yours will turn up when you cast on a new pair for yourself. I've been saying for over a year I want to knit some. I'm thinking this is the year I will!!
ReplyDeleteRyan is a lucky young man! I'm so sorry you can't find your mitts! (I can't find my prescription sunglasses...) I love that waffle pattern too!
ReplyDeleteI say . . . Drop Everything And Knit . . . yourself a new pair of mitts! Because you deserve them - and need them now. :-) (And ditto on the Ryan-is-a-lucky-guy statement.)
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kym...move your mitts to the top of the list! I would argue that you are not the slowest knitter in the world, that would be me! I'm okay with my slowness, I enjoy knitting and by working on one thing at a time, I do get things finished.
ReplyDeleteThose are some really awesome mitts! I'm working on a pair for myself right now. Still. I may actually join you in the slowest-knitter-in-the-world competition.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kym! Or steal a pair back from Ryan. YOU DESERVE MITTS MORE THAN ANYONE ELSE!!
ReplyDeleteI bet those at least one mitt will turn up right after you cast on. They are hiding in some funny out-of-the-way place. But cast on for yourself. You need warm hands.
ReplyDeletethat is the bestest of friends to make you knit for you!
ReplyDeleteI hope your mitts turn up sooner than later. We are having the same dilemma with hats in this house right now, for the life of me I cannot imagine where I possibly could have put them away!
