On the knitting front, I'm working on a Hitchhiker and a sock, steadily but very s-l-o-w-l-y. I'm busy with work (literally out standing in fields) and outside work here at home, so knitting has taken a back seat as the weather has warmed.
My reading has slowed down also. I'm listening to Midnight Riot and Before Green Gables on my ipod, and while they're both enjoyable, neither one is a page-turner. What I have been doing is some planning for Mary's Summer Book Bingo. Here is my card:
I've been putting book possibilities for my squares on my goodreads book bingo 2017 shelf:
In the next few days, I'm going to sit down with my printed card and start penciling some of these book titles into squares so I can see where I stand, what books I need to look for at the library, and what squares I still need books for. We can really start reading at any time, as any book you finish between May 27 and September 4 will count for Book Bingo. So, any suggestions for books that will make me a better person? I welcome all your ideas for this interesting square (and any other suggestions for must-reads that you would like to make)!
What are you reading and knitting this week?
Getting your shelf filled is a great idea as is penciling in books. I will have to do the same this week and start my summer reading map!
ReplyDeleteanother hitchhiker in such a beautiful color! I bet you get into a 'zen' while knitting that pattern. I feel that way about some of mine as well. My reading is going in spurts. The news is distracting me!!
ReplyDeleteI've been planning books for my bingo card too and it looks like we will be reading a couple of the same books.
ReplyDeleteYour card looks like fun! I've already got a couple of books started and am planning others for my card. And your hitchhiker - what a gorgeous color!!
ReplyDeleteI've bailed on The Red Tent (but will finish it by next Wed for book group) and have picked up...The Shell Seekers! I'm loving it so far and it should be my first bingo book. Your hitchhiker is lovely!
ReplyDeleteThe wool is so pretty, must get the sock wool out I have stashed somewhere, the book bingo is very tempting.
ReplyDeleteThe delicious Hitchhiker yarn reminds me of sherbet!
DeleteOrganization is the key to success when it comes to Summer Book Bingo. I think you're a pretty good person already so I'm not sure if you need to be better. I do think that Being Mortal is thought provoking and that can make us all a little better but I'm also thinking you've already read it.
ReplyDeleteYou've got a good start on filling in your squares. This year I plan to join AND plan to have more time to read. Your knitting looks colorful and joyful!
ReplyDeleteLooks like the summer of Colwin and Hitchhiker! I love that your shelf contains so many books that are new-to-me titles ... look forward to your reviews! ...and three suggestions for the better person square: Ta-Nehisi Coates' Between the World and Me, Citizen: An American Lyric by Claudia Rankine and Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison. All three of those books made a huge impact (which I like to think is for the better ;-) on me.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited! I've been trying to sit down and generate/plan my card... maybe today!!
