Strictly for the Birds

This weekend I made time to put up the birdhouses. I was a little concerned that the birds might turn up their noses
at the humble abodes I was providing for them because I was hanging them several weeks later than usual.

But it turns out I needn't have worried.

Within ten minutes the mama wren had claimed it for her own and I hope to hear
the insistent chirps of her babies begging to be fed within three weeks or so.

  1. Perfect timing, I would say! :-) I love your little houses. They are so charming -- and just the ticket for mama-wren and her little nest. LOVE. XO

  2. That's a lucky bird! I finally put up a couple additional feeders. I know it's the wrong time of year but the extra activity is fun to watch!

  4. Every year, if I'm lucky, I get to see a yellow and black bird - maybe a finch? It only sticks around for a bit. It flew right past my face on Saturday - I was so thrilled! And then I saw another bird - may have been a red breasted grosbeak. Or something like that - LOL! Another bird I am only luck to catch a glimpse of as it travels on wherever it is going!

  5. That's wonderful! I don't think any of our birdhouses have ever been occupied (by birds).

  8. How wonderful! Your timing was perfect and mama wren must have been so pleased! I've seen chickadees use half roofed houses and always admired their ability to make it their own!
