I'm joining Kat and the Unravelers today, with a completed cowl, a mostly completed mitt and a second mitt in progress.
I was concerned about what I would knit next, and somewhat shockingly, I don't feel like starting another Hitchhiker. I spent a little bit of time on Ravelry and stumbled upon an interesting two-color shawl that I couldn't seem to stop thinking about. I checked my stash, found two yarns that I think will look good together, and will be winding them to give it a try. It may be a little soon to declare an end to my era of Hitchhikers, but that might be a possibility. But first, thumbs!
I read three books last week, so I'll write about them tomorrow instead of making this post too long and boring.
What are you making and reading this week?
The cowl is just gorgeous, Bonny! The color, the pattern... it is just perfect! I hope it speaks to you soon! And those mitts are awesome! (I bet they will be super warm!) But, stop the presses... a cessation in Hitchhiker knitting??? Say it is not so!! (Although, I am intrigued by your Two Color Shawl Find on Ravelry!)
ReplyDeletewhat a pretty cowl!! I can see how cables could wane in the excitement, lol. I cannot wait to see the new shawl on the needles.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I want to know about the two colored shawl (I may rip out my Hitch on the Move...). Meanwhile, your cowl is beautiful and looks so squishy. I thought you were making it for you! Someone will be very happy. And the mitts look great - they look so warm!
ReplyDeleteI highly doubt that your era of Hitchhikers is over, but perhaps a break is a good idea. I hope you get those mitts finished soon, thumbs included, so you can wear them (or maybe finishing them will bring on an early spring?). Looking forward to seeing what this new shawl is!
ReplyDeleteLove the cowl and the mitts, Bonny. You are a busy knitter these days. I am not surprised that your HH knitting is on pause since all norms seem to be going by the wayside these days. You will get back to it when the time is right, and it will be there like an old friend.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the cowl finish! Those mitts look warm and squishy. I pulled a pair of mine out yesterday. Mitten weather it is not but I am not ready for bare anything out there yet. That wind is still pretty cold.
ReplyDeleteMy hands are often cold, even inside, so I will be making an effort to finish those mitts (complete with thumbs) this week.
DeleteThat cowl looks great and I love the mitts!! I hope they get their thumbs. Very much looking forward to hearing about this new two-color shawl! I am at a near standstill with my knitting...
ReplyDeleteBoth your cowl and your mitts look great! Those mitts will keep your hands nice and toasty!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Debbie! I've been working on the mitts today and now they're both ready for thumbs. Maybe tomorrow!
DeleteI love the cowl and your mitts look really pretty and warm! It’s funny how we get really into knitting something and then need a break. I was all about Musselburgh hats over the holidays. It’s now out of my system for now. I’m working on some cabled socks.
ReplyDeleteThe mitts are quite warm and I hope to get them completed by Friday. I've been picking lots of VM out of the yarn but that just reminds me that it actually came from sheep. Cabled socks sound nice and warm!
DeleteBoth of these knits looks so warm and cozy. Someone will enjoy that cowl for sure. I like to knit the body of mitts and then do the thumbs at the same time. This increases the odds for two thumbs of equal size.
ReplyDeleteLots of great knitting, Bonny! I really love the cowl -- it turned out so nicely and looks just squishy-warm. Perfect for cold walks! The mitts are great, too. I really am not a fan of thumbs, so if I didn't do them right away (as I finished a mitt), I might never do them. (In fact, that has happened . . . ) Can't wait to see this new shawl!!!
