Unraveled Wednesday

Joining Kat and friends for Unraveled Wednesday.

I have spent much of my knitting time over the last few days unraveling yet again, ripping, and tinking, just like last week. It turns out I missed a slip, slip, knit waayy back, but now I'm back on track. So 96 rows back, 22 rows forward, and hopefully I've learned enough to pay attention and won't have to unravel that much again. I certainly understand the pattern much better and what the ssk and the two kfbs are doing in each row after unraveling so many of them. :-)

My reading is also déjà vu all over again, with Us Against You on my Kindle and Foolproof in real book form. I'm anxious to finish at least one of them because The Feather Thief looks so intriguing to me that I want to drop everything else and read it - right now.

What are you making and reading this week?

  1. I had to rip back 7 rows of sock knitting on the plan ride home last weekend because I skipped an entire row of k2tog yo. I was too easily distracted, I guess! I'm reading The First This Time and loving it so far.

  2. Every single thing I knit I unravel at least 3 times, usually 4 or more. It takes awhile for me to hit my stride and move forward without err. I'm reading The Weight of Ink. Listening has been the perfect way to read as I've been walking in the lovely spring air and also planting patio pots. Spring is here!

  3. I'm knitting the On the Spice Market shawl and last week had to rip back about about 10 rows, I have no idea what I did, but the only solution was to rip and re-knit. I'm reading The Ninth Hour by Alice McDermott, her writing is very quiet and yet paints such a clear picture of the lives of very ordinary people. The Feather Thief sounds very intriguing and it is going on my TBR list-I'm also recommending it to my brother who has a small workshop where he ties flies and repairs rods and reels.

  4. ugh, I know the ripping out is painful, but hopefully the re-knitting will go a lot faster. I need to catch up on what everyone is reading, but I'm deep into Winter's Tale (on audio) and it might be another week before I'm ready for something new!

  5. You are in good company, it seems all knitters rip back, but fortunately it is a learning experience. I have so many books started, but it is a consequence of deciding after 60 years of reading that I should read what I please, so I do! I highly recommend it. I will finish those other books eventually and before they are due, but I am into the reading moment these days. I hope things are going well, Bonny.

  6. My home ec teacher in junior high had a stitched sampler hanging in her classroom. It said, "So shall you sew, so shall you rip." I think of that sampler ALL the TIME. Because the sentiment is so true! XOXO

  7. I'm sitting here at work trying to decide on my next audio book...and trying to get it from Overdrive but everything is on hold! The libraries don't even have Us Against You yet but I'd be willing to throw an audible credit at that! And soooo sorry about the ripping but it will be worth it in the end!

  9. It is interesting to rip out a project a number of times and then feel more knowledgable about the pattern. Some knitter once said, "the difference between new and experienced knitters is that the experienced knitter has ripped out more stitches." So true. Interesting books you have listed here. I love to hear about what you are reading.
