Three on Thursday

While I don't think Carole is hosting Three on Thursday today because she's kicking her heels up in new cowboy boots on vacation in Nashville, I do have three things to share today that are blooming here in my yard. This is not to rub salt into the winter wounds of those that still have or are getting snow, but hopefully they might be a small reminder that spring will eventually show up in your neighborhood, no matter where you live.

I've got grape hyacinths,

my favorite bleeding hearts,

and the cheeriest of flowers - daffodils.

And for a bonus fourth sign of spring, while I know these tiny green leaves aren't technically blossoms, I just have to celebrate the first sprouts of my mint. I'm looking forward to mint tea (and maybe even a mint julep) in a month or two.

  1. YAY!!! I'm glad to see spring making her way a little further north. She's certainly taking her sweet time, but she's always worth the wait!

  2. Oh, those bleeding hearts! I miss them! Sadly, we have a much too sunny yard for them to thrive here. Spring is inching her way in here this week and I am thrilled that my forsythia and my lilac are doing alright despite the snow and cold temps!

  3. This is exciting! After all that snow . . . blooms! Beautiful blooms! And I am celebrating today because the snow that was forecast for last night was only rain. And this morning, the sun shines! I'll be taking a walk-about through my own garden later today to see what might be happening out there. (But I know for sure I have no daffodils or grape hyacinth quite yet.) Thanks for sharing your blooms. XO

  4. Like Kym, we were spared the extra bit of snow that was in yesterday's forecast. It's gonna be sunny and 48F here today... warming up a little more with each day that follows for as far as I can see. I will soon be looking for my bleeding hearts!! Thanks for sharing... I'm feeling hopeful now. ;)

  5. I love bleeding hearts, but I haven't had success in getting them to grow in this part of Illinois; I think our summers are too hot & dry. My daffodils are blooming in spite of being beaten down by snow three times this month. I am really looking forward to some spring weather, but hope we don't go from this cold weather right into hot & humid weather!

  6. Wow! I feel like I just stepped into my Mom's spring time garden. Thanks for the walk down memory lane! :)

  7. A lovely reminder of spring, Bonny. While things are looking green and the air is full of pollen, we still have much cooler temps than we should. I have decided it will just make the warm temps feel that much better whenever they arrive. Thanks for sharing the encouragement!

  8. Our spring has been shy about fully coming in. The daffodils are gone, the tulips are as beautiful as they can be, the bleeding hearts are just showing buds and I think, grape hyacinths are going to take over the world! LOL

  9. Four things to celebrate indeed! On my walk today I found some tree buds beginning to show the tips of leaves. Buds on all trees are slightly easier to see. The air felt so fresh and the birds were singing. My step was light.
