Joining Kat and friends for Unraveled Wednesday, with 1.25 fingerless mitts.
I finished the first mitt for Ryan and am several stripes in on the second. I wanted to match the stripes and so far, so good.
I'd like to get his gifts in the mail by Friday and it looks like that might be a self-imposed deadline I can meet.
I'm still listening to Obama's book, finding it thoughtfully-written, thought-provoking, and incredibly interesting as he tells the reader what he was really thinking during his years as President. This quote struck me this week as something to strive for and practice not getting hung up on the daily ups and downs.
I’ve often been asked about this personality trait—my ability to maintain composure in the middle of crisis. Sometimes I’ll say that it’s just a matter of temperament, or a consequence of being raised in Hawaii, since it’s hard to get stressed when it’s eighty degrees and sunny and you’re five minutes from the beach. If I’m talking to a group of young people, I’ll describe how over time I’ve trained myself to take the long view, about how important it is to stay focused on your goals rather than getting hung up on the daily ups and downs.
What are you making and reading (and maybe playing) this week?
Those fingerless mitts are so colorful and fun Bonny! They will be perfect out in CO!!! Love the quote from Obama.
ReplyDeleteThat quote... yes! I have the book in queue, hopefully I will start it tomorrow! (and I love those sripey fingerless mitts!)
ReplyDeleteOh, I love the mitts! What yarn are you using?
ReplyDeleteThank you! The yarn is Must Stash in the Vespa colorway.
DeletePerfect stripe matching! I love those colorful mitts. I strive to be more "Obama-like", but some days I really struggle with that. I will try to keep that quote in my head and see if it works - LOL. Have a good Wednesday, Bonny.
ReplyDeleteI am working on a sweater and have begun a pair of socks. I love the stripes on your mitts!
ReplyDeleteI love that colorway, so cheerful and happy!! You make me want a switch...
ReplyDeleteI'll pick you up on Sunday and we can deliver our gifts together. xo (Love the mitts!)
ReplyDeleteFirst, what great mitts for Ryan! :-) Second, I can't wait to listen to Obama's new book. I actually have it in my Audible library already, but I think I'm going to wait for it to be my "new year's read." And . . . I have not yet caught the elusive tuna! I had to put a note on my Switch that says "Don't you have something better you could do?" It works. But it has hindered my fishing tremendously. . .
ReplyDeleteI love those mitts so much! I'm knitting a giant shawl and on a fantasy kick on the reading front.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Giant shawls are great, too! :-)
DeleteThe mitts are coming along and so bright and cheerful. Who doesn't love a rainbow? I do think ribbing takes a smidge longer to knit - at least for me. I am listening to the latest Louise Penny novel - All the Devils are Here. The only downside of audiobooks is you can't listen faster, well I guess one can increase speed on some devices but that would ruin the story for me. Two grandsons and I were playing with emoji's on FaceTime putting them over our faces. They taught me how.
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty mitts. Beautiful !!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the mitts -- those bright stripes are so cheerful! Ryan is going to love them and I hope he is cheered by the rainbow stripes as well.
ReplyDeleteLove those mitts and perfectly matching stripes! I lost all of my fish and bugs when my switch was repaired. I've managed to catch everything for October and November, including a tuna, but I'm bummed about all those sharks and other fish and bugs!
ReplyDeleteI need to start listening to that book!! Your matching stripes are AWESOME!!
ReplyDeleteThose mitts are awesome and I LOVE the quotation you shared. what a nice follow-up to your Focus post!
ReplyDeleteI'm holding out for Jan. 1 as my start the Obama book day. Listening to his voice and words feels like a good way to start 2021.
