Three on Thursday

Joining Carole and friends for the first Three on Thursday in 2019. We left on December 26th to visit Justin at the ranch where he works, and I had a wonderful time. Today is about Three Things I Enjoyed During My Visit.

First, Peanut Butter Stout. Justin was telling me about it, but all the bartender could find was this Milk Stout. I'm not usually a big fan, but decided to try it anyway. As soon as I tasted it and read the can, I knew this was the stuff. We even went back the next night so I could have it again.

Secondly, shooting my bow at an indoor archery range. This is a great place, even though I was feeling a little intimidated when we first arrived. Everyone else was male and shooting really well, but I figured "what the hell" and drew back. Justin had installed some rollers on my bow string so I wouldn't have to wear an archery glove (which I hate; they're all sized for men) and they worked perfectly. We shot for over an hour, and I was fairly proud of my last group of the night. It's not great by an experienced archer's standards, but it was pretty darn good by mine.

And last, but not least, I greatly enjoyed Justin's company!

Head on over to Carole's for more Three on Thursday.

  5. It sounds like a great day, Bonny! A beer you love, great shooting, and . . . Justin, of course. :-) (I am an IPA drinker, and I can't stand stouts. I hear, though, that peanut butter stouts are all the rage!)

I always get intimidated by all the meat-head guys using the weights at the gym whenever I go in to do my weight workout. They usually make-way-for-the-old-gal, though, and then ignore me while I ignore them. But it's so hard to . . . step in there. Good for you for stepping in and shooting your arrows!!! XO

  6. I am impressed! Granted, the only time I have ever done anything with a bow and arrows was at summer camp many years ago, but I remember how hard it was.

  7. What a fabulous time Bonny!! That stout sounds delicious - I need to look for that. I would love to find a place for indoor shooting (that would help STRENGTHen my arms for sure!!).

  8. No need to measure yourself against the men. You have something they will never understand. YOU'RE A FIRST! You have it all over them when it comes to intimidation. Just image if they had to walk into a room full of female archers. Do you think they'd stick around? I think not! You go, grrl. (I think your arrows placement looks amazing!)

    1. Once I got over my initial intimidation at the range it was actually quite fun. Most of the guys shooting were nice to the "old lady" and even congratulated me when I was done!

  11. so wonderful to be with him and to have fun with him! I love that you do archery and have no qualms being with a bunch of 'men'. I'm baffled that they do not make woman sized archery gloves!!
