When I trim the plants in the spring, I usually stick the cuttings in soil to start new plants. This is what resulted from doing that in April, and the new purple ones are blooming already.
Sorry for possibly too many pictures, but I did want to show Donna as many as possible.
Here's one last photo since you'll have to wait another whole year for more.
Thanks for asking!
Wow Bonny, I have never seen another one like it and I always look foe it. Thanks for sharing brings a smile everytime!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for providing me with something to write about! There are days that I struggle, but it's easy to write a post about this Christmas cactus!
DeleteWOW! They sure are beautiful. I looked at my (rather large) non-blooming Christmas cactus this weekend and had a little chat with it. Not sure any blooms will appear on it, but I will be getting one that blooms as soon as I get back to a nursery!
ReplyDeleteLook at how amazingly bright and beautiful your flowers are! And, so many! The color is just what I expected from mine, but mine are white, ethereally white, with a bit of deep pink at the center. I don't know what to do to make them look like your beauties (next year). The flowers are amazing, just ghostly. Yours look like vivid, happy, tropical flowers.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful! I"m going to try to start a couple in the spring myself. Do you ever bring them outside?
ReplyDeleteWow, Bonny! That is just amazing! What a beautiful show! You make me want to dip my toe in the Christmas Cactus sea!
ReplyDeleteLovely! I don't think I've see that beautiful color before. My 60+ year old Christmas cactus is just beginning to set buds.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Debbie! That's another thing I love about Christmas cactus - they last for decades and are true family heirlooms. Enjoy yours!
DeleteJust gorgeous! And I love that you showed us lots of photos, too!
ReplyDeleteWow, that is a prolific little sucker! I am impressed with how well it blooms and procreates when stuck in soil. Happy Monday, Bonny!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Bonny! ...and not too many photos at all!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful color!
ReplyDeleteBeauty!!!
ReplyDeleteSo magical! I love Chrismas cacti. I have two (one was my mom's) -- and they both bloom that color, but never at Christmas! I guess mine are Thanksgiving cactus. XO
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed every photo. How beautiful! Thanks for sharing your green thumb.
ReplyDeleteThanks to Donna for the prompt. I enjoyed the photos!
ReplyDeleteI took a bunch of photos and couldn't decide which ones to include, so you got most of them! :-)
DeleteOh THANKS Bonny, I look for a purple one everytime I see xmas cacti in the stores!! I almost forgot Merry Christmas:-)
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed lovely! I've never had any luck with Christmas cacti...so I appreciate being able to see yours and others', too.
ReplyDeleteCheers~
