Unraveled Wednesday

Joining Kat and friends for Unraveled Wednesday.

Maybe you remember last week when I hoped to have a completed pair of mitts by today? If you don't remember, that's just fine, because this is all I've got.


Outlander is the cause of Kat's short row shaping problems, and I place the blame for my lack of progress squarely on Amazon and Comcast. I've been chatting daily with Amazon customer service, and knitting during these surreal conversations. Every conversation seems to end with "please be patient; your package will be delivered tomorrow", but tomorrow hasn't arrived for the past four days. I should know better than to knit in situations like this, and all the unraveling I've done to correct my mistakes has finally taught me. 

But this morning Comcast joined in the fun. I usually start my day with tea, emails, blogs, and some work, but without internet this morning, it was just tea. After investigating things on my end with no fix, I had to call Comcast. I had returned a non-working modem several weeks ago, but it seems they had mistakenly decided to deactivate my working modem last night at midnight. The good news is that I was busy enough resolving the Comcast issue that I didn't have time to chat with Amazon. 

So tomorrow is a new day, and I am starting anew by following Kym's process for starting my morning with tea and knitting. No internet, no customer service, no emails, just centering and meditating with knitting. I feel better just thinking about it.

  1. Why do I feel "customer service" will never live up to its name. Following Kym's lead, taking time to start the day in a calm and centered way, would be good for all of us.

  2. Oy. Amazon issues are truly no fun, and their "fix" of extending Prime for another month is really not worth the hassle of having to contact them. And, I am thinking calling Comcast was not much better!

    Here is to tea and knitting, sans internet, customer service, and email!

  3. Comcast and Amazon?? The holiday frustrations have definitely begun for you, Bonny. I think Kym's idea is fabulous. I think of knitting as meditation, but I haven't set aside time in my day for it, and I must do that. I think it would help me feel much more centered than google news and coffee, which is my current routine for first thing activities. I will try to start tomorrow. For now, it's off to read today's "do list". Have a great day, Bonny, in spite of all our frustrations, life is good, and we have much to be grateful for, even if it is hard to see these days!

    1. Amazon and Comcast are great when they work, but they can also fail spectacularly. Kym's post was a real revelation and sounds like a big improvement on how I've been starting my days recently. I know tea and knitting won't fail us, and we'll be centered and better able to appreciate all the good!

  5. I've needed to call Comcast for months to renegotiate my monthly package but I keep putting it off because I hate being on the phone for all that time. With Amazon I usually do the online chat thing and that has always worked to resolve any issues I have had.

    1. I was feeling unraveled, but I've done all I can with customer service issues, so I think I'll just be patient and peaceful. I've at least got some control over those things!

  9. Oh dear! I just wrote a post about my unraveling with Verizon. There is something in the air these days and it is NASTY. Hope everything works out for you positively and quickly. Morning knitting is a very good thing.

  10. We've been saying for days that something is terribly wrong...everywhere. Sorry for your Comcast troubles...Doug gave me Comcast as my training ground back in the day when I was mellow. No more! :-)

  11. The mitts are coming along - slow and steady wins the race. I am taking a little break from the news feeds. Stepping away and concentrating on enjoying December.

  14. I had internet problems and called our company and I was surprised they came out the SAME day and FIXED the amplifiers....unheard of! The problem was on our road and they were outside in boxes and doing stuff for hours, and it was chilly. They should teach costumer service to others :)

  15. Ugh! I'm so sorry that all your customer service experiences have been so frustrating, but it does sound like you're handling them well. I hope the package arrives soon!

    1. I did contest the Amazon charge with the bank, so at least I won't have to pay for it while Amazon decides how to handle the situation. Right now they're just ignoring it and doing nothing. I've never had that happen before, so hopefully it's just a one-time glitch.
