My poor Subaru has been recalled so the brake lines can be checked and replaced to make sure I don't die in a fiery crash due to brake failure. I'm a big fan of working brakes, so in addition to enjoying the dealership's excellent coffee, I'm using some of my forced waiting time on two of my favorite activities:
- Reading - I'm listening to The Magician King, reading Centennial on my Kindle, and reading a "real book" copy of A Prayer for Owen Meany. I think three books may be one too many for me to really appreciate them, so I need to finish one. At 1104 pages, it isn't going to be Centennial any time in the near future!
- Knitting - I'm working on (yet another) Hitchhiker, using Peppino in the colorway Happy Times. It's yarn I couldn't resist when I visited The Loopy Ewe in October, and I was anxious enough to start knitting that I wound it in the Denver airport. I have lots of Happy Times associated with this yarn, so I'd really like to finish so I can wrap the Happy Times around my neck and be warm and cozy while remembering them.
three epic novels...I'll bet you finish the Hitchhiker first! (love the way you styled that WIP shot - so pretty!0
ReplyDeleteReading and knitting are the perfect waiting room duo. Yarns full of memories are the very best for knitting. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThat's going to make a great Hitchhiker! I have an appointment to take my Subaru in for service next week but they will be giving me a loaner so I don't have to wait.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty so far! I love when yarn brings back good memories. Glad you are getting that Subaru taken care of. I have a friend who's mom really did die in a car crash due to what eventually was a recall by Toyota.
ReplyDeleteYou definitely want working brakes! My 2-yo Honda is currently in the shop having the transmission replaced. Not that there was a problem with the transmission - but there was apparently a bad weld that was damaging a seal, and we had a tiny oil leak. And for that, they have to replace the whole thing. Bizarre.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking I must be due for brakes just this morning! Glad you're getting things taken care of. And those are some big books! The colors on your project are lovely. Looking forward to seeing it complete!
ReplyDeleteSure glad they are fixing your vehicle. Lovely knitting and I hope when you read this you are already home and not still there.
ReplyDeleteHitchhiker is the perfect match for that yarn. Why haven't I made Hitchhiker yet? Why?!??
