Once upon a time, many years ago, there was a thing in blog land called Saturday Sky. A blogger named Sandy started it, and people posted photos of the Saturday skies in their neighborhoods. I don't know when it started, nor when it ended. I have Saturday Sky posts from 2015, and I searched several long-time bloggers, looking for more information but couldn't find many details. Margene has stunning Saturday Sky posts dating back to 2006. If you've got some time, take a look at some real beauty here. (I miss you, Margene, your mountain, and Mylo, too!)
I still look up and watch the sky, and yesterday when I was taking down laundry, I did just that. I put down my dry clothes, grabbed my phone, and took some pictures.
Nothing extraordinary, just some slices of the sky as more and more clouds roll in. Today it's gray with rain threatening, but I got to watch the progression. What's your sky looking like today?
Hope you have a great weekend, rain or shine (or snow)!
I think you had more clouds than me! Every morning I am out with the dog I take a photo of the sunrise, it makes me happy.
ReplyDeleteI've been noticing the clouds on my drive home from work each day. So different this time of year than in the Spring or Summer. It's grey here today (though the sun was out earlier) and rain is in the forecast for mid-day. I miss Margene's posts too.
ReplyDeleteI think those are some pretty great skies, and certainly an improvement over the sky here today -- dark and rainy.
ReplyDeleteThose are great sky photos! I know Sandy started this WAY back! I also miss Margene's blog.
ReplyDeleteYour sky is spectacular. I love the puffball clouds and the bright blue sky as a backdrop.
ReplyDeleteSandy must have started SS in 2006, which she did because no one blogged on the weekends and weekends in Blogland were boring. It was a "thing" for quite awhile and when Sandy stopped blogging many others stopped their Saturday Sky posts. I kept it up because I love the sky! Today we have a sky that looks like it could hold snow even though we were promised sun. I hear winter will be here for Thanksgiving.
I loved Saturday Sky posts and still think of Sandy every time I see (and/or share) a lovely sky photo. I agree with Margene, it had to have been around 2006. Very early in the knit-blogosphere! (And I miss Margene, too!!)
ReplyDeleteWe all miss Margene! I like these sky pictures, Bonny, and they are much lovelier than anything down my way. It has been raining here for a few days, so no clouds, just a flat gray sky. It is November, and it is typical weather where I live. The leaves coming down and the rain coming down mean lots of mess in my house! Hope you have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful skies! The perfect respite from laundry!
ReplyDeleteDeeep Sigh! A lovely sky - buttermilk clouds. Ours was nothing like that y’day...but a sight to behold, anyway.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the weekend and thanks for the photos. Lucky you: hanging clothes outside. Always loved the smell of line dried wash.
Happy weekend.
Cheers~
Oh our Saturday Sky is much like your photos actually! I see the sun again! I see the sun AGAIN......But it is cold and I need to go get more bird food. The cardinals are outside pecking around and looking sad.....their sad face is just like their happy face however, so I may be interpreting this incorrectly
ReplyDeleteGet some more bird seed so you can be treated to the cardinals' happy faces! (You gave me a good laugh!)
Deletethank you ... for remembering Saturday Sky ... and for capturing these lovely images in your own back yard! I am outside at least three times every day and try to remember to look up (and down). but for sure I don't always take a photo to remember.
ReplyDeleteI love your Saturday skies. What a good reminder to look up now and then? The other day I was walking and looking at the ground and I nearly walked into a low hanging tree branch. Goodness - I thought I looked forward and up most of the time but obviously not.
