Three on Thursday

Joining Carole and friends for Three on Thursday, today with more food in and around Elkton.

I had the car again yesterday and decided to head to what I had heard was the best taco place around. I had been told that it didn't look like much, but the food was so good that people traveled 30 miles for tacos from this stand. I was excited and all ready for some delicious tacos al pastor but was greeted by this sad sight. Closed and for sale, so no tacos for me.

A little searching brought me to the only other taco place in Elkton. This is really the building where they prepare food for catering and their food truck, but they're open for take-out with a limited menu. I say "they" because I still don't know what the name of the place is, but since the big green flag says TACOS backwards, I figured I was in the right place.

And I was. No al pastor, but they did have grilled shrimp tacos. Messy, but delicious.

It wasn't quite whiskey and a cheeseburger, but pretty good all the same. Head on over to Carole's for more Three on Thursday.

  3. I love this... there was a little hole in the wall place near Holland that had the best tacos in all of West Michigan. It looked very similar to the closed place. I am glad you found an alternative - because when you are craving a taco, nothing else will do!

  5. Oh my word ............ they look DELICIOUS!!!

We had a taco place in Jacksonville that didn't look like much and had no indoor seating, but oh my .......the food was awesome AND I didn't need a car. It was close enough to walk to.

  6. I was so sad to see that for sale sign on the first taco joint. :-( But the actual tacos (or should I say sacot????) look fabulous. It looks like you're having fun on your days-with-car! XO

  7. First of all, I'm still craving whiskey and a cheeseburger after seeing the photo in your other post. Luckily I'm allergic to seafood so I doubt I'll be craving your tacos. :) We had a scary looking mexican joint (really couldn't call that place a restaurant) that was SO good. We used to eat there 3 or 4 times a week. Eventually they upgraded and moved into a much larger & more 'acceptable' location and went straight down hill. We were so sad.

  9. This often happens to me, and it is so disappointing. Your mouth, appetite, and expectations are all set, and then, WAH! But you were lucky in finding an acceptable substitute. Actually it looks like a very good substitute! I'm glad you are exploring your new to you space.
