Unraveled Wednesday

Joining Kat and friends for Unraveled Wednesday, but thankfully there's no unraveling going on here!

This week I finally got my Peace Cowl off the needles and took it outside to put on plants, flowers, and bushes in my quest for a decent photo.

I also started a sock yesterday from the Solemate I found in my stash search last week. It's compelling knitting and kept me from some doing some work that I should have been focusing on, but fiddle-dee-dee, I'll work later after I have a pair of socks done.

Reading has been slow going. Midnight Riot is a fun book, and Moments of Seeing is comfortable reading for reflective times, but I think my reading mojo has really been devoted to thinking about books I might want to read for Mary's Summer Book Bingo. I hope you'll consider joining in. It's something I look forward to every year, and some of my favorite books have been ones that I've read for Book Bingo.

What are you reading and knitting this week?

  2. Love your cowl! It really turned out lovely. Was it peaceful to knit? Just curious - seems like a number of people didn't find it all that peaceful...and it took longer than many thought. Love your yarn for socks - really pretty. I'm excited for book bingo too. I've been eyeing the categories trying to pick the ones I want (without making it too easy if you know what I mean).

  3. Your cowl is lovely! The color is just great. It may inspire me to re-visit mine on occasion. I would like to have it for next year. Reading...nothing...listening HP and the Prisoner of Azkaban...knitting the same square as last week! :-)

  4. Reading Canadian Mary Lawson's books -- so nicely basic and rural (farming, woods and fields) -- "Crow Lake"+2 more.
Knitting -- finished some helical wrist warmers, first try on the technique and I really like it. Also, a knitted "knocker" -- you can look them up in Ravelry for details, vastly needed everywhere.
The Peace Cowl I tried, and gave up on though it was at a time when I was off. Love your color.

    1. Just a few minutes ago I put one of Mary Lawson's books (Road Ends) on my list. She does sound like an intriguing author. And I do need to try that helical technique, too!

    1. Thank you, Helen! I found Moments of Seeing on Amazon, but I'm not sure about availability or delivery to you in Europe. Katrina Kenison blogs here http://www.katrinakenison.com/ if you want to read more after you finish your book.

  10. Your hostas are much farther along than mine (and I have hosta envy). The color of your Peace Cowl is gorgeous! Reminds me of the peacock I just saw on Carole's blog.

  11. Your cowl is lovely - a perfect color, if you ask me.

The socks look like they will be fun to knit, with that yarn. Sometimes all you need is some fun yarn to make sock knitting even better.

  12. My cowl is on the needles...it's the two rows knit...yours is lovely and looks great on the natural plants. I hope knitting it brought many hours of peace. We need it.
    Cheers~

  13. Love seeing your cowl outside in the sun (and shadows :-) - beautiful finish! I wish I had a book recommendation for you, but you're a few steps ahead of me on all the good ones.

  16. The cowl is just lovely, Bonny! (Especially draped in your garden.) My reading has slowed . . . I'm pretty sure it's just my mind wandering to Book Bingo. Like you, I look forward to summer reading and Book Bingo every year! It always boosts my reading in wonderful ways. Love the socks. They just look happy and light. XO
